Best 2006 Toyota Tacoma Trailer Wiring Options- Video

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2006 Toyota Tacoma. First we've got the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness, with 4-pull flat trailer connector, part number C55513. We've also got the Tekonsha T-1 vehicle wiring harness with 4-pull flat trailer connector, part number 118496. Curt also has a wiring harness available with a 5-pull flat trailer connector, which is going to be good if you've a trailer with surge breaks, and you need that reverse light circuit. That one's going to be part number C56513. The biggest difference that we're going to see between these two wiring harnesses, is the amperage ratings on the circuits. On the Curt, it has a 3 amp rating, on the turn and break light circuits, and a 5 amp rating on the taillight circuit. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Toyota Tacoma- Video

Today on this 2006 Toyota Tacoma we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118496. First go ahead and lower the tailgate. Starting over here on the driver side, if you look on the inboard side of the bed, you can see we have a screw at the top and a screw here at the bottom. We need to go ahead and remove those to remove the taillight. With those two screws removed, we just want to take and kind of gently rock the taillight assembly back and forth. With the taillight pulled off, if you look on the backside here, you can see the main connector and that is the connector we are going to separate and plug our harness inline to. If you look towards the midline of the connector, you can see there is a little push button right there. If we press that in and pull away, we can separate the two pieces.
