Rob: Hey everybody, Rob here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Crossbar Style Base Plate on our 2012 Fiat 500. Now, our base plate is going to be the actual attachment point on our Fiat so we can safely flat tow it behind our motor home. The whole reason why we want to take our vehicle with us is so we can have a little bit of convenience. We get it to the campgrounds or wherever we're going, and it's much easier to drive a Fiat around rather than trying to take a motor home just to go to the gas station or maybe you want to go out to dinner. Now the Roadmaster base plate is called a crossbar style because it uses this quick disconnect crossbar so that it can actually have the base plate hookup right to these pins. more

Today you're going to be taking a look at the components needed to flat tow your 2012 Fiat 500. There's five components you're going to need to safely and completely flat tow your Fiat. We'll need a baseplate, tow bar wiring, a braking system, a tow bar, and finally safety cables.Our baseplate is going to be the solid connection point that we hook our tow bar up to when we want to flat tow our Fiat. It's going to spread that towing force across the front of the vehicle, so it puts less strain and stress on our front suspension. For our Fiat, we went with the Roadmaster crossbar-style baseplate for a few different reasons. One of the main reasons why we chose this one is because it is going to be a very straightforward install. more
