Thule Hitching-Post-Pro Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Today, on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro. This is a folding and tilting four bike style rack, it's designed for use with the 1 1/4" or with 2" hitches. The part number on it is TH934XTR. Now, the Hitching Post Pro is going to use three points of contact to hold our bike in place. We're going to have two for the top tube on our frame. There's also going to be an anti-sway cradle, which you can see does a really nice job of keeping our bikes from swaying back and forth. To release them, we just pull down and out on our straps, which of course have several different locations to choose from so you can get the proper tension on your frame. more

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we've got the Thule T2 Classic out, and we're test fitting it just to see how it fits on the rear of the vehicle. Now, the T2 Classic is a two bike platform style rack. It does tilt up against the vehicle, and also folds away. See, it's going to hold our bike by both wheels. We've got no frame contact here, no pressure downward on the frame. It's going to be especially nice for the carbon bikes. more

Today on our 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Parkway Four-Bike Rack for 2" Hitches, part number TH956. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike actually attaches to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two straps up at the top and then one off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep your bike from moving too far back and forth and making bike-to-bike contact with the others. The cradles are adjustable along the arms. This is to accommodate loading, and the cradles also have these grooves on the inside, so your cables can rest in there and not get crushed by the frame of the bike when it's being installed. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

We're going to have this padded frame hook up at the top and it's padded to ensure that your bike doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. Then we have two wheel cradles with these straps here at the base. Another thing to notice about this is it has a nice, raised hang to it, so if your hitch sits particularly low to the ground, you're not going to have an issue of clearance between your bike rack and the ground. more

Today on our 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Apex 5-Bike Rack for 2-inch hitches, part number TH9026. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature I'd like to show off is its integrated cable lock at the top of the mast here, which you would pull out, wrap around the bikes, and attach it to this portion here up front and lock it into place to secure your bikes to the rack. The cradles are adjustable along the arms to assist with loading, and it has this arc design to also assist with loading to keep the bikes from running into each other. The cradles themselves also have this nice padding or cushion padding that you can see here and is actually shock resistant, so when you're driving it's not going to shake your bikes all over the place. Put that back into place. How it actually grips your bikes, it's going to grip it at 3 points. We're going to have 2 straps up at the top and 1 off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep your bike from moving too far back and forth. more

We have a padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to make sure your bike doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. Then we have these wheel straps on either wheels. Now the wheel cradles are adjustable on the arms of the rack by loosening and tightening the knobs here. They're adjustable to assist with fitting different size bikes as well as just fitting bikes in general onto the rack. The bike rack itself does have a raised shank here, so clearance is not going to be an issue between the bike rack and the ground no matter how low your hitch sits. more

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback wagon, we are going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4 and 2" hitches, part number SR26248. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached to give rear hatch access. This is pretty unique for a hanging style bike rack. To do that we have this black handle on the passenger side of the mast. You pull that out like so, let it tilt forward, and now we have rear hatch access to get whatever we need. It is far enough away that we have plenty of space on either side to do so. We will just push this back up into its original position until you hear that click. Now, how this is actually held in place, we are going to have to rubber straps up at the top to hold it down. more

We're going to have this padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to make sure that you're bike won't get scratched up once it's being installed. We also have these hook and move straps on both wheels to hold those in place and the wheel cradle themselves are adjustable by loosening and tightening these knobs here. The movable length of the arms and this is to accommodate different size bikes and to assist with loading. The bike rack itself has this nice raised shank that comes on up here so clearance is not going to be an issue between your bike rack and the ground. more

We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, I'd like to point out that it has an integrated cable lock here in the center of the mast. You would pull it out and wrap it around your bikes and attach it to this point here and then lock it into place for security. The cradles themselves are nice and padded so your bike will not get scratched when it's being installed and they're also adjustable along the length of the arms, so this is going to assist with loading your bikes. It grips your bike at 3 points. We have 2 straps up at the top here and 1 off to the side and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and possibly hitting the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. With the bike rack in this position, I'm going to go ahead and give you a couple quick measurements. more

Today on our 2011 Subaru Forester we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Rack, part number NV22G. The first and most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that we'll hold on to the bike rack as we do this, push in on this tab, let it come down gently, and now we have full access to our rear hatch to get whatever we need. To put it back in it's original position just lift up on the bike rack, never the bike, and you hear that click and it's locked into place. How this actually attaches to the rack, we're going to have two points of contact with no frame contact at all. Instead we'll have this padded wheel hook up at the front and this wheel strap at the rear, which can be adjusted along the arm here to accommodate different size bikes. more

Instead of having the handle up here underneath where the bikes sit, it's actually at the end, which makes it a little more convenient. What you do is you take the grey handle here, pull it towards you while holding on to the bike rack, let it come down, and now we have rear hatch access with plenty of space and clearance between the hatch and the handlebars as well. To put it back in its original position, just lift up, you hear that click and it's locked into place. How the bike is attached to the rack we're going to have points of contact, with no frame contact at all. more

We already have a bike installed on the rack lets go take a closer look and show of some of the features. Now the first and most prominent feature is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. You come out to the end here with this gray handle and you're going to pull it towards you and it will tilt down. It's kind of nice having it out here as opposed to other bike racks which have it closer up underneath the bikes and it makes it a little awkward when you have all the bikes loaded up to tilt it. Pull it towards us let it come down and now we have full access to our rear hatch to get what we need. Thanks to the clearance between the bike rack and the bumper we have plenty of space on both sides to do so. Once you lift it up and hear that click it's now locked back into place. Another thing I like to talk about is the raise shank. more

The first feature I'd like to show off is the fact that it has a nice raised shank here, which despite the low clearance level of the hitch, there's not going to be an issue of clearance between the bike and the ground. How it actually attaches to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. It's going to grip the bike by the frame here with this strap, as well as two wheel straps on each of the cradles. The cradles themselves are adjustable along the arms to accommodate different size bikes, and also to assist with fitting two bikes together. You simply loosen up the knob here, that can move along like so. more

Then at the front we have a wheel hook which sits either in front of our brakes or in front of our frame depending on how our bike is made. Today in our 2015 Subaru Outback we'll be doing a test fit on the Yakima Swing Daddy hanging style four bike rack. That's part number Y02464. I've already got it loaded up on the outback just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to work with our four bikes. Real quick, right away, I want to point out one of its best features. It has the ability to swing out around to the side of our vehicle so we can gain access to our rear hatch. Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback, we'll be doing a test fit on the Yakima HoldUp Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack. That's part number Y02443. I've already got it loaded up on the Outback just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it holds our two bikes. It actually holds our bikes with zero frame contact. We have this wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle, and then for the rear we have a strap going over the rear wheel and it rackets down into place, so that's going to be nice and tight. One of the best features about this bike rack is it has ability to tilt away from our vehicle so we can gain access to our rear hatch. Go ahead and make your way over to the center pin here, pull out, and then we can get into our rear hatch. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback, we'll be doing a test fit on the Kuat NV 2.0 platform-style 2-bike rack. That's part number NV22G. Now, it's also available in a 4-bike rack, and that's part number NV22G-NA22G. I've already got it loaded up on the Outback, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it holds our bikes. It actually holds our bikes without any frame contact at all. We've got this large wheel hook going over our wheel, putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle, and then here at the rear, we've got a strap going over our rear wheel and keeping that in place. more

Rola TX-104 Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the ROLA TX-104 4 Bike Rack, part number 59401. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature I'd like to show off is the fact that it has an integrated cable lock in the center of the mast. You pull this out of the mast, wrap it around your bikes, attach it to this end here and lock it into place to prevent theft and tampering. The cradles are adjustable along the length of the bike rack to make loading a little bit easier. How the bikes attach to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact. We're going to have 2 straps up at the top here, one off to the side and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike moving too far back and forth. more

Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback wagon we're going to be test fitting the Pro-Series Q-Slot platform-style bike rack, part number PS63138. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. As you can see, this can carry up to four bikes, however you can actually take off this end section here and make it just a two-bike carrier as well. It grips the bike in three locations. We have a frame hook up at the top, which is padded. We also have two hook and loop straps on either wheel to keep those in place as well. Those wheel cradles are adjustable, all you do is loosen up these knobs and you can move it the length of those bars. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Softride Element-Parallelogram Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack, part number SR26248. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer looks and show off some of the features. The most prominent feature of this rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bikes still attached. To do that you come to this black handle on the passenger side of the mast, pull out and let it come towards you. Then we have full access to our rear hatch to get whatever it is we need with plenty of space on either side to do so. To put it back in its original position just simply push it up until it lines up, you'll hear that click. The cradles themselves are adjustable, you'll have to remove these plastic pieces in between to get them to move. more

Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Today in our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Curt Premium 4 bike rack on number C18064. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. You notice here that without arms themselves, they're more narrow at the start of it and they branch out. This is so you can fit different style of bikes on this such as children's and alternate frames. The cradles themselves are adjustable, the length of the arms and we also have these reflectors on the ends, and also, on the back of the mast we have this tie down here. That's recommended for when you're using Curt hitches, so you use the stabilization strap to keep the bike from moving to far back and forth while you're driving. It grips your bike by its frame in three parts. more

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback wagon we're going to be testing fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack, part number NV22G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first one I'd like to show off is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that there's this latch here toward the center of the mast, you'll just hold onto the bike rack as you do this, you pull towards you, let it come down gently, and with that we have full access to the rear hatch to get whatever we need with plenty of space on either side to do so. You can see that it had plenty of space between the handle bars and the hatch as well and from the center bar handlebar to the edge that's going to be about 9 inches. more

Let's go and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the first thing I like to show off is the fact that this can actually tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, making sure you're holding onto the bike rack as you do this, come to this red knob at the end, pull it out, and gently let it come down. With the bike rack in this position, we can actually gain access to the rear hatch with just enough clearance for our handlebars to do so. more

Let's go and take a closer look and show off some of its features. Now, how this actually grips to the bike rack, you'd normally have one point of contact with the bike's frame, and that's going to be this padded frame hook up at the top. It's padded to ensure that your bike will not get scratched once you get it installed. We also have these wheel wells here on either side. You loosen up those screws and you can actually adjust them to the length of those arms ton accommodate different size bikes and to make fitting two bikes a little bit easier. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

We already have a bike installed so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The cradles themselves are maneuverable so you can adjust it for whatever two bikes you want to put on there. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact with the bike's frame. We're going to have two straps up at the top here and one off to the side. That's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth, possibly hitting the bike in front of it and damaging them both. more
