Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Mazda CX-3

Speaker 1: Today in this 2017 Mazda CX-3, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C11418.First thing you'll notice about this hitch is that it's completely hidden behind our fascia. The only part you'll see hanging down is the receiver itself. This gives us a very clean look just like the factory hitch would. On the side of our receiver, you'll find our 1/2" diameter hitch pinhole to secure our hitch-mounted accessories. On the end of our receiver, you find this collar that's welded on, giving us a nice clean look and to help improve the strength of the receiver opening. Welded onto the bottom are our tubular steel safety chain loops, and these are quite nice because even though this is a Class I hitch and they are kind of small, you can still easily clip on even a very large hook like this one. This hitch features a 200-pound max tongue weight rating, which is the amount forcing down, and a 2,000-pound max gross trailer weight rating, which is the amount it can pull. You want to make sure you consult the owner's manual of your CX-3 and not exceed what the vehicle's rated for. more

Best 2018 Mazda CX-5 Trailer Hitch Options- Video

Best 2018 Mazda CX-5 Trailer Hitch Options

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2018 Mazda CX5. So here we have the two most popular options, up top here we're gonna have the Draw-Tite and down here we're gonna have the Curt.So here we have the Draw-Tite installed on our Mazda CX5, but I do wanna mention that both the Curt and the Draw-Tite are gonna sit about the same and the cross tube is gonna be hidden nicely behind the bumper and the main thing we're gonna see is the receiver tubes stickin' out.The first difference you're gonna notice right away is how they look. Our Draw-Tite is much narrower than our Curt, and that's because they're gonna mount slightly differently than each other. They're each gonna have two mounting locations on the side, but our Curt is gonna use two mounting locations on the side of our frame rail, whereas our Draw-Tite is gonna come up from the bottom and mount to our frame rail from underneath. Even though both of our hitches are gonna use four different mounting locations, I did find with the Curt having that long tab going along inside of the frame, it is slightly more difficult because we're gonna have to move some wires and work around that, whereas with the Draw-Tite, we're not gonna really have to fight anything, and it is just that slightly bit easier to get installed. Both the hitches are gonna give us a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, and then both have reinforced collars. However, they're gonna be just slightly different looks to 'em, but the Draw-Tite is gonna have a rounded, more bubbled look, whereas the Curt is gonna have that clean flush cut on the end. more

That's going to be your hitch pin hole, and it is going to accept a standard 5/8ths pin and clip. Now the hole towards the back of our receiver tube, that's going to be exclusively for the J pin stabilization device. Now the way this is going to work, is we're going to put it in through the hitch pin hole and this hook here is going to come in to that secondary hole, and it's going to apply pressure to our accessories making sure that they don't rattle around and make a lot of noise when we're driving down the road. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-5 - Curt

Speaker 1: Today on this 2016 Mazda CX-5, we're going to review and install the Curt trailer hitch, part number C12170. Now, this is one of the smaller hitches that you can put on your CX-5, and it's great for a variety of applications. First off, it's a trailer hitch, so if you've got a real light-duty trailer, some single axle trailer with 12" wheels on it, this would be a perfect match for that kind of trailer. Also, if you're not going to be pulling a trailer, this is going to be great for a bicycle rack. This 1 1/4" size does lend you up to a variety of bicycle racks, and up to four bikes carrying capacity, in some cases. Also, if you run out of room inside your vehicle, and you need to use a cargo carrier, this will work with a variety of those as well.As you can see, not much is showing on the hitch. All we have is our 1 1/4" opening right here, and our safety chain loops. more

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-5

Today on our 2016 Mazda CX-5 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Class III Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C13315. Here's what our hitch looks like fully installed. The cross tier's going to be hidden underneath, and it is a class III, so it's going to give us that two-inch by two-inch opening. It has a nice, reinforced collar, giving it that nice clean finished look. Now our safety chain loops are going to be a rolled steel stock style welded to the bottom of our receiver tube, and as you can see we're not going to have any issue getting most size hooks on or off. Now, our hitch is going to use a standard 5/8 pin and clip. It's not included, but you can pick one up on our website using part number PC3. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-5

Today on our 2016 Mazda CX-5, we're going to take a look at, and show you how to install the Draw-Tite Custom Fit Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver. This offers the 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. Its part number is 36601. Here's what your hitch is going to look like installed on your vehicle. As you can see, a very nice thing about it is that our cross-tube remains completely hidden, so the only thing we're really going to be adding to the rear of the vehicle is going to be the receiver tube area here, and our safety chain connection points. You see it snugs up nicely right underneath the fascia, and it doesn't require any trimming to get it in this orientation. Now this is a Class II hitch, that means its got the 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver tube opening, and it's going to be pretty versatile. This is something that with Class II accessories you can carry large cargo carriers, you can carry the bigger bike racks and things like that. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2016 Mazda CX3. Up top here we have the Draw-Tite, part number 24933. Here we have the Curt, part number C11418. Now these are both Class-1 hitches and they're going to have an 1-1/4" by an 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. They're going to use a 1/2" standard pinning clip. Now, the Curt does come with a 1/2" pinning clip, with the Draw-Tite you're going to need to pick one up. When it comes down to the final look when it's fully installed, I think the Curt is going to give you the best look here because all of this is going to be tucked up underneath the bumper and all you're going to see is the receiver tube opening. Whereas on the Draw-Tite, it is going to be tucked up nice and clean, but you will still see just a little bit of the crossbar hanging down. Not only is the Curt going to give you a cleaner look, since it is going to be tucked up, it's also going to give you just that little bit of extra ground clearance. more

It's going to feature the inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening. Features a half inch hitch pinhole, which is going to be good for securing all off your class 1 accessories. What I like most about it is how far out the receiver tube comes, so it's going to give you plenty of access to use just about any accessory with this hitch. It tucks up tightly to the underside of the facia and this way the only thing you're going to see is the receiver tube and safety chain connection points. This hitch features the 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch receiver tube opening with welded on reinforcement collar to give it a nice look ad also help with durability. Feature the 1/2 hitch pinhole, which is going to be good for securing any of your class 1 accessories.
