Adding diodes to your Ford Maverick is gonna allow you to accurately transfer the lighting signals from the back of your motorhome to the back of your truck. You can think of this, the best example is if you're pulling a trailer behind your motorhome, you're gonna have to have lights because the contents on that trailer may block the lights on your motorhome. Same goes for your Ford Maverick. If somebody's following behind you on the highway, they're not gonna be able to see the taillights on your motorhome because your Ford Maverick is blocking them. more

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today, we're taking a look at installing the CURT custom fit vehicle wiring for flat-towed vehicles on a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Now, this kit is custom fit to our Wrangler as well as a few other generations of Wrangler as well as the Gladiator. And when it comes to flat-towing vehicles, one of the things that's really come with technology is diode wiring, and long gone are the days of magnetic tow lights, mostly because vehicles today just aren't magnetic. And that's one more cable that you have to run down the vehicle and it's just one more thing to store. So having diode wiring is really nice because you can simply plug in your umbilical and it'll send the running lights, turn signals, and brake lights to the towed vehicle lights. That way, it keeps you safe and legal. more

Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit on our 2024 Ford Maverick. A diode wiring kit is designed to tap in the back of your factory tail light, so that you can accurately transfer the lighting signals from the back of your motor home to the back of your Maverick. Essentially, if you look at it as, like you're pulling a trailer with your motor home, you have to do the same thing as if you're pulling a car behind your motor home. You have to be able to transfer those lighting signals, whether it be your blinkers, your stop, or your running lights, you need to transfer those back here, so the others know what your intentions are when you're going down the road. There are a couple other solutions other than diodes when it comes to choosing a kit for being able to get those lighting signals back here. more

There's gonna be five main components required when flat towing the vehicle. And the first is going to be the base plate and that's gonna be the structural support that's on the frame of the vehicle. And that's gonna allow you to hook up your tow bar and that's gonna be the connecting point between the hitch on the RV and the base plate. That way you can safely tow it down the road. Adding a diode wiring kit to the taillights on your Tahoe is going to give you the same type of functioning that you would if you had trailer lights. So because you're pulling your vehicle behind your motor home, you have to be able to transfer the lighting signals from the motor home to the back of your Tahoe, and that's what these are designed to do. They're gonna tie in behind the taillights with your factory wiring so that when you're not using your vehicle to be flat towed behind your motor home, your taillights are gonna operate just as normal. When you're flat towing your Silverado behind your motor home, you have to have a way to transfer lighting signals from the motor home to the back of your vehicle. Whether that comes from your stick on magnetic lights, your bulb and socket, those two methods are kind of an older method of transferring those signals, that's where diode wiring comes into play. This is my favorite way to transfer those signals 'cause you're just using your tail lights as if they are your trailer lights. It's essentially the same thing. more

Now some other options that you have for lighting whenever you're flat towing your vehicle are going to be magnetic lights, which can kind of be a hassle to set up because you have to run a 4-pole from the back of your vehicle all the way up to the front every single time you wanna flat tow. And then you have to find a place to store those whenever you're not using 'em. So I really don't care for those, especially with newer vehicles having aluminum panels on the vehicle, you can't stick the magnets to those so you're gonna have to have- find a different place to be able to mount those up. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit on a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Now there's five main components that are required for flat towing any vehicle, and we'll break those down. The first one is gonna be the base plate, and that's gonna structurally mount to the frame of the vehicle and create a mounting point, not only for your tow bar but the rest of the components. So our tow bar is going to be the connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. And also, going from the base plate to the hitch, is gonna be our safety cable. Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Diode Wiring Kit on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five required components when flat towing any vehicle, and on our Chevy 1500 today, we'll start by taking a look at the base plate, and the base plate is gonna mount to where the factory tow hooks were or structurally to the frame of the vehicle, creating a mounting point for the rest of your components, and also your tow bar. Tow bar is your second component, and that is connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now just like a trailer, we have our safety cables here that'll attach to the tabs on the base plate that are gonna be your safety chain loops, and then you'll just attach those to the safety chain loops on your RV. We also have our diode wiring, which is gonna transmit the light signals from the RV to the taillights on the towed vehicle, keeping you safe and legal. more

Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 2018 Jeep JK Wrangler- Video
Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. Diode wiring is definitely becoming the normal trend when it comes to flat towing vehicles. The other alternatives are going to be magnetic lights, which those work fine, but the problem is these newer vehicles, and especially Jeeps, a lot of 'em aren't magnetic. So you're not gonna be able to have those be able to stick on there, and then you're still having to drape that wire every time you want to hook up and then you have to store them. Where diodes, once you have 'em installed, you just plug in your umbilical and they're ready to go. Now the purpose of diode wiring is so that you can safely get the signals from the back of your motorhome to the back of your truck so that you can transfer them to let others know what your intentions are when you're goin' down the road. It's essentially just like trailer lights. You need to transfer the lighting from, if you're pulling a trailer with your truck, you need to transfer the lights from your truck to your trailer. That's the same thing when you're flat towing. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Now there's five main components required when flat towing your Wrangler. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate. That attaches to the frame of the vehicle, creating a structural mounting point for your tow bar and all the rest of your components. Your tow bar is the connection point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. more

Blue Ox Tow Bar Wiring Kit Review- Video
Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Blue Ox Diode Wiring Kit. So when it comes to setting up a flat tow, you know, your wiring is gonna be a very important component, and it's gonna be responsible for transferring lighting functions from the back of your motor home to the back of your vehicle, and with a kit like this, it's going to provide you with all those necessary signals, your left turn, your right turn, your taillights, as well as your brake lights. There are a couple of different ways to achieve getting those signals back here, and a diode kit like this one is hands down my favorite way, and I say that because once they're installed it's super easy to set up, you know, essentially you're just gonna have to plug a cable in from the front of your vehicle into the back of your motor home, and you're good to go, right So, ease of use is definitely up there, and the reliability as well, you know, as long as you set everything up right, it's pretty rare that you run into any issues with diode wiring, like the Blue Ox for example, as compared to another way to get signals back here, say magnetic lighting for example, all right With those magnetic lights, the base is magnetic and will stick to the side of your vehicle, and in some cases it's not even possible, right A lot of these late model cars, the panels are starting to be made from aluminum, so that's one downside, and then you got something rubbing on your paint and stuff, it's just not ideal, at least in my opinion, I wouldn't like that, but not to mention you're gonna have to set 'em up every single time you wanna flat tow, and then take 'em off when you're done flat towing, so it definitely adds some time to the process, you know, running a wire up every time, and then not to mention too, but with those, you know, when you're over the road and whatnot and you're trying to store stuff, you know, by using diodes like this that stay with the vehicle, it's gonna be one less thing you're gonna have to worry about keeping track of. I mentioned that ease of use, and this is a perfect example on how it can be set up. Just take your cable, plug that end into the front of your towed vehicle, the other end will go into the back of your RV and that's it. more
