TowReady Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit Installation - 2005 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Today on our 2005 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be installing the Tow Ready Circuit Protected 4-Pole Wiring kit, part number 119178KIT. To begin our install, we'll first remove the vehicle's spare tire cover. Set aside and then we're going to remove the rear threshold. To remove the rear threshold, there are multiple fasteners along the bottom and two cargo hooks with fasteners to remove. Once we remove these fasteners, we'll get underneath the threshold with a flat blade screwdriver or interior trim panel tool and pop the fasteners free underneath. Now with all of our fasteners free we'll go ahead and remove the rear threshold and set it aside. Next to access the wiring on the driver's side, we'll open up the rear storage compartment and then we'll move over to the passenger's side where we'll fold back the carpeting and this will allow us access to the passenger's side wiring. We'll go ahead and back probe the taillight connectors starting here on the driver's side, the green wire going into the vertical connector as our running light circuit. more
