Thule Crossroad Roof Rack Installation - 2004 Ford Explorer

Today on this 2004 Ford Explorer we are going to install a Thule Crossroad roof rack. We already have our crossbar assemblies put together so we are ready to lay them in place on top of our side rails. To properly position the roof rack we need to make sure that the overhang is even from the driver side to the passenger side. We also need to make sure that our crossbar is running perpendicular to our factory raised side rails. So what we will do is measure from a fixed point at the front of the side rail to the edge of our Crossroad feet and make sure this measurement is even on both sides. Once we have the roof rack in position we will pull the strap all the way through set it into the feet and begin tightening the rack down. We will move back and forth from the driver side to the passenger side to tighten down the roof rack system evenly. Once we have the front bar assembly tightened down we are ready to mount the rear. :48 more

Rhino Rack Roof Rack Installation - 2004 Ford Explorer- Video

Rhino Rack Roof Rack Installation - 2004 Ford Explorer

Today on this 2004 Ford Explorer with factory raised side rails we are going to be installing a Rhino Rack roof rack part number SXBS4. We already have our crossbar assemblies put together so next we are going to take our assembly and lay it across our side rails. Next we are going to check our crossbar overhang from driver side to passenger side and make sure it is even. Now we need to ensure that our Rhino Rack crossbar is perpendicular to our factory raised side rails. To do that we are going to measure from a fixed point on the side rail back to the clamps on our Rhino Rack crossbar. We will make sure this measurement is even on both sides. Once we have the front crossbar positioned where we need it we can go ahead and begin tightening it down. We will take the included wrench and use it to tighten the allen head bolt that is tucked inside the crossbar above the clamp. As we tighten this bolt the clamp is going to grab onto our side rail and it is also going to secure the crossbar to the clamp. Once we have the front crossbar assembly tightened down we are ready to start with the rear. more
