Best 2006 Nissan Frontier Trailer Wiring Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2006 Nissan Frontier. Here we're going to have the Tekonsha, which is going to give us a seven-pole at the end of our vehicle. Here we're going to have the CURT, which is also going to give us a seven-pole. Then here we have the Tekonsha, which is going to give us a four-pole. Finally, the CURT that's going to be give us a four-pole flat. Now the main difference between all of our wiring kits is going to be the end connector. Now both of our kits here, the CURT and the Tekonsha, are both going to give us a seven-pole flat and not only give us our required lights, but they're also going to give us control of our brakes and a 12-volt power source coming out. Our Tekonsha and our CURT that are going to give us a four-pole flat will give us all of our required lights, such as our taillights, brakes, and turn signals, but we're not going to have any control over our brakes. Now these aren't the only kits available for your Frontier, but what's going to set these apart from all the other ones is that they do come with the required relays so that the connector at the end of your vehicle will light up the lights on your trailer. If you're towing a small trailer where you only need the lights and you don't need a brake controller activator or anything like that, I think the CURT and the Tekonsha four-pole connectors would be a good option because, if we're not using a brake controller, this is still going to have all the required functions to get our lights working. On the other hand, if you are towing a heavy trailer where you do have a brake controller hooked up, or if you need your reverse lights or anything like that, I think the seven-way is going to be the way to go because you are going to have those extra functions as well as more amperage coming out. The way our harness is going to install for each one of these is going to be relatively the same. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Nissan Frontier

Today in our 2006 Nissan Frontier, well be installing the Tow Ready T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector Part Number 118525.Now well begin here at the rear of the vehicle. Here on the driver side at the rear of the vehicle, theres a factory plug that well be plugging our 4-flat into. Well need to first remove the blank cap thats already in the plug. To do this, well simply take a small flat-head screwdriver and push in on the locking tab and then pull the blank plug out. Once we have that done, well take our new plug that has the 4-flat connected to the other end and well simply plug it into it making sure that we hear the locking tab snap into place. Now that we have our plug in place, well go ahead and take the 4-flat end and route it up and over our hitch. Well then take the end dust cover and loop it through the safety chain hole and connect it back on to the 4-flat securing it to the hitch. more
