Husky Fifth Wheel - Sliding Fifth Wheel - HT31313-32220-59 Review

Today were going to review part number HT31313-32220-59. This is the Husky Silver Series 16KS Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with a slide bar jaw mounted on the 16K roller, has a weight capacity of 16,000 pounds. Now for this video demonstration, I do have it mounted onto the rails for display purposes just to show you how this is being installed with the rails but the installation kit is sold separately. Now this fifth wheel hitch with a roller will mount in your truck bed so you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. The roller will move to allow for required clearance for your short bed truck to turn safely at slow speed. It will prevent the trailer from hitting the cab of your truck during those sharp slow speed turns and it also offers safe operation with the visible latching pins on the inside here. Now this hitch uses a slide bar jaw which will secure the kingpin in the hitch, has open sides which will allow the kingpin to swing without hitting the sides of the head. Then Im going to show you on the side here on the cross member itself, on the cross member, it will have four rows of two holes each and same on this side. Basically, when you go to bolt your cross member to the slider, you can pick which height you need for your application, gives you four-position vertical adjustment to let you achieve the height you need. The height can be adjusted by simply moving this crossbeam up or down on the slider base and then bolting it into position. more

Trimming a Truck Bed Liner for Fifth Wheel Rails- Video

Trimming a Truck Bed Liner for Fifth Wheel Rails

Today we're going to cover a frequently asked question on how to cut out a bed liner for a fifth wheel installation. It's pretty easy, we'll measure for our crossrails just like normal and then we'll go ahead and mark out our bed liner. Measuring from the edge of the bed of the truck, not the bed liner, but the edge of the bed and measure out. We'll go do one side, we'll go to the other side and make a mark as well. Now those will be the marks that'll align our first rail way. We'll make sure that our rail is even from left to right. more

Fifth Wheel Installation - 1999 Ford F-350

Today on this 1999 Ford F-350 super duty, we are going to install part number RP50082. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and lower the spare tire so we have access underneath the vehicle. And then once we have that done, we will go into the bed of the truck and we will start marking out the places for our rails. What we are going to do is measure out from the edge of the bed itself, not the tailgate but the bed, and we are going to measure out and place a mark in the bed as described in the instructions. We are going to do that in two places on both sides. Now we have our mounts in our bed. We will line up our first rail and you are going to want to get them even left to right, using the seam right here works out pretty good. Our custom install kit on the bottom is going to use these two outside holes here. So we will find the center and mark that. Do that on both sides of the rail. Alright, let us move our rail out of the way. We will go ahead and drill a couple 1/8 inch holes. Now we are by the frame of the vehicle on the driver side. Now you do not want to really have to take off the back tires but we did anyway for clarity. One thing we know is that our plate is going to have to sit flat on the frame so that our brake cable here is going to be in the way. So, we are going to move that out of the way. There will be a provision to but that back on later on. 1:12 more

We will also be installing the fifth wheel installation kit with rails part number 50061-6008. Go ahead and lower the spare tire up out of the way. Also on some models you will find that the heat shield over here on the passenger side will interfere with the installation of your frame brackets. If that is the case you may want to go ahead and remove the heat shield out of the way as well. Okay on the models that have the factory installed electrical brake control unit will need to relocate the electrical plug mounted to the inboard side of the driver side frame rail here. Loosen those up and you can see that we can actually take the heads of the bolts, slide the bracket forward, and pop them out those larger holes there. 00:59 more
