Hi, it's Evangeline from etrailer.com, and today, we are looking at our Swagman E-Spec two-bike platform-style rack here on our 2020 Mazda CX-5. This is a great bike rack, especially if you have your heavy e-bikes. It has a huge weight capacity, and I think it also looks pretty good. The way our bike is mounted to this bike rack is by two wheel straps and a free mount over here. This is a free mounted bike rack, so you can see how they have these hooks with this slight light padding here just to protect your bike. These mounts are lockable. more

Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack with Ramp Review - 2020 Mazda CX-5- Video
Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2020 Mazda CX-5, we're gonna be checking out the Yakima OnRamp Platform Style Bike Rack. First impressions of the rack on the back of the Mazda, I think it's a decent fit, you know, it's relatively compact and which is good for a smaller SUV. You don't have a gigantic bike rack back here. And really, this is gonna be set up for e-bikes, so really heavy bikes and that's because it does have a ramp, a little tray that you can put on here and help get the bike on, or take it off. But that doesn't mean that you can't use it with regular-style bikes as well, so even if you just have a hard time or have a real heavy bike like this one here, it makes life a little bit easier which we'll get to in just a second. more

Hi there, CX-5 owners. Your 2020 Mazda CX-5. We're gonna be taking a look at Curt's two bike platform rack. And this is what our rack looks like here at the back of the vehicle. You can see it is a double platform style which will secure your bike very tightly to the vehicle. Unlike the hanging style rack where your bike could potentially rock back and forth and contact the other bikes and your steering wheel up here at the front, the handlebar can rotate around With this, it's locked down into the platform. more

Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a look at the etrailer 4 bike rack on our 2020 Mazda CX-5. If you're looking for a straightforward, nothing too crazy, very simple bike rack just to get your friends or family's bikes to the trails, to the park, or even on a trip, this would probably be the better option for you. As you can see with this hanging style bike rack, it will hold up to 4 bikes. We use hook and loop straps here on each cradle that are rubber lined as well. And to load and unload, you would just simply unstrap the front and the side one as well, and then remove your bike from there. more

One of the nice things about the Thule Helium Two Platform Style Bike Rack is the adjustment that you have in order to still access your hatch in case you needed to load any other type of bicycle equipment or gear or groceries as well if you're just driving around town. This is a wheel mounted bike rack. The nice feature about this is with these easy release knobs, you're just going to pull and you're able to remove each side on the rear and the front as well. more

So now let's go ahead and take a look at the tilt away. We're just going to hold the frame or the bike rack here, lift up on this latch and slowly let the rack down. From there we can then access the hatch, if we happen to needed to load any other type of cargo or getting another bike equipment out of there. more

Now with this hanging-style bike rack, it does have some very nice features to it. It does have seven inch spacing between each cradle of the rack. And on top of that, each cradle is rubber-lined to where it meets the contact point on the frame, as well as rubber lined on the underneath side of the ratcheting straps. more

If you're looking for a bike rack to install that's going to be easy and lightweight, maybe something that you can do by yourself, this would probably be one of the better options. Taking a look at the simplicity of this design as well, there's only three contact points to hold your bike secure. With that being said, having this 360 movable frame mount point you'll have different options for different style of bikes. With only having those three contact points that are holding the bikes secure, let's go ahead and take it off now and I'll show you that.I like to take off the front and rear wheels first. more

So this is a great bike rack if you're looking for something that is lightweight and easy to install. It's a good entry level four bike platform rack, so you can still carry all your bikes without having to pay too much. The way our bike is mounted to this bike rack is by one, two wheel straps and this frame mount over here. If you look at the frame mount, this works really well with non-traditional bike frames or traditional ones because of it's 360 rotation. To dismount the bike, you just start with these wheels strips.So I recommend holding onto the bike a little bit as you press that lever and pull up on the strap. more

So this is a four bike hanging style rack, it's a nice quality bike rack especially since it's at an entry level price, but one thing that makes it extra special is its popularity. There's a lot of people who've tried this bike rack. It's tried, tested and true.So, the way our bike is mounted to this bike rack here is by three mounting points, so we have one, two and three. So this third one down here is the hold fast anti-sway cradle, which is something that Thule is very proud of having at this price point. So you can see how it really takes out the sway of our bike while it is on our rack. more

This is a great option, especially if you have a heavy e-bike, because it has an 80 pound weight capacity, which is a lot.So the first thing I want to show you is how it tilts away with the bike on it. To do so you need to take out this pin and clip here. So with that clip out of the way, you just need to pull that pin out. Now it is a tight fit, so you might need to lift the rack up a little bit while you pull that pin out. And with that out of the way, you then pull on this top lever. more
