Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2009 Honda CR-V

Speaker 1: Here on this 2009 Honda CRV, we're going to be having a look at and showing you how to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number C55106. Here's what our wiring looks like installed. This 4-Pole Flat Wiring Harness is going to give you the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally tow a trailer. This green wire, this is what provides your right turn signal and right brake light. The yellow wire provides your left turn signal and left brake light. And on each one of these wires, we have a total power output of 3 amps, which is more than sufficient to tow a small trailer with two incandescent light bulbs per side, or as many LEDs as you want because they do draw less power. The brown wire, this is what provides our taillight and our running light signal for all the clearance lights on our trailer, and on this wire we have a total power output of 5 amps, so we could run several incandescent lights on it, or as many LEDs you want. more

Best 2009 Honda CR-V Trailer Wiring Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best custom-fit vehicle wiring options for your 2009 Honda CRV. Up top, we've got the Tekonsha T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118427. On bottom, we've got the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number C55106. The biggest difference that you're going to see between these two wiring harnesses is on the Tekonsha, the converter box is circuit-protected so even if there's a short in the trailer or in the wiring for our converter box, it's not going to go back and blow the fuse on the vehicle. Then the next difference we'll see is in the amperage ratings that's going to be on each circuit on the 4-pole wiring. With the Tekonsha, it's going to be rated at five amps on the taillight circuit and 2.1 amps on the stop and turn signal circuits. Where on the Curt, it's going to feature five amps on the taillight circuit but three amps on the stop and turn circuits. The Curt features surface-mount technology, which is the way that the wires are connected to the connection points inside the converter box, which are going to help make for a much more reliable connection, even in rough road conditions. It's also going to help to reduce heat output inside out converter box. Another difference that we'll see is on the Tekonsha, it's got this white ground wire with a ring terminal at the end in order to ground it. Where on the Curt, the white wire is inside the connector that goes into the factory harness so it's going to be grounded through the factory ground in the harness. more

All right. Today, on this 2009 Honda CR-V, were going to install Part Number 118427 from Tow Ready.First thing well do is open the rear door and move the interior floor panels to get down to the spare tire. Next, well go ahead and remove the threshold by the back door, remove two tie-down hooks and two plastic rivets. The rivets are unique that in effect, you push down the centers to release them.Once all the fasteners removed, well go ahead and pop off the threshold. Next, well go ahead and pry the side panel away from the vehicle on the driver side. Well slowly work away around the edge until it comes loose. It also may help to remove the small panel behind the back seat as well and pop that loose, and give the panel a little more flexibility to move away. more
