Malone Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Toyota 4Runner MPG2130- Video

Today on our 2012 Toyota Forerunner, we're going to be test fitting the Malone RunWay three bike rack for 1 1/4 inch to 2 inch hitches, part number MPG 2130. We already have it installed on our vehicle and have a bike installed on it as well, so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike actually attaches to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two straps up at the top here, and one off to the side here, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike to bike contact. I would like to point out that while we have a wheel strap attached to it now, that does not come with the bike rack because once you have all three bikes attached there is a stabilization strap that wraps through all three to keep them together, and to keep the tires from going too far into the vehicle. The cradles are padded and movable, and have these grooves on the inside so that your cables of your bike will actually sit in there as opposed to being crushed up against your frame once it's being installed. more

We already have a bike installed on our rack, so let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. One of the more prominent features about this bike, or about this platform rack, excuse me, is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached so we can get rear hatch access. To do that, we'll come up to the front here, and see it has this pin. Release the snap portion of the pin on the other side, lift up slightly on the rack to remove the pin. You'll notice that even with the pin removed, the bike rack actually isn't tilting away. This is a safety feature because it has a catch up at the front to prevent that from happening. more

We already have a bike installed on the rack, so let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. One of the more prominent features about this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached, so we can gain rear hatch access. To do that, at the base here you'll see this pin. Pop that loose, lift up slightly on the rack. I'll loosen up the pin, and at this point you'll notice that it actually doesn't come down at all. That's because there's a catch up at the front, and that's for more of a safety precaution, so it doesn't come falling down on you when you have all the bikes attached at once. So, what you do is you pull out and now you're able to tilt away. It does come pretty close contact, almost pretty close contact with our bike here, so if your handlebars go out a little bit further, you may have fit issues with that. more

Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Toyota RAV4- Video

Today on our 2014 Toyota RAV4 we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Hold Up 2 Bike Rack, part number Y02443. This is for 2" hitches only, can carry up to two bikes, and one of the most prominent features about this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bikes still attached. To do that, holding onto the bike as you do this, you come to the front to this red handle. You pull it out like so, let it tilt forward. Now unfortunately due to how close the bike rack is to the vehicle you will make contact with the handle bars, although you have some space to get what you need with it open this much. To put it back in its original position we'll just lift up again on our bike rack, you hear that click and it's locked back into place. How the bike actually is gripped into the bike rack, we're going to have two points of contact. more

As you can see, we still have plenty of room to get anything in or out of trunk from either side. To put the back back in position, simply lift up. It'll lock right into place. Now, you're going to have two points of contact just to keep your bike secure. You're going to have a front hook here on the front wheel, and then on the back, you're going to have a strap to keep your bike secure. Hollywood Racks Trail-Rider Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Sienna- Video

Today on our 2016 Toytota Sienna, we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2 bike rack for inch-and-a-quarter and two-inch hitches, part number HR200. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, how the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. Starting with the top here, we have this padded frame hook. Now it's padded to make sure that your bike frame doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. We also have hook-and-loop straps at both tires, and the wheel cradles themselves are adjustable along the arms here, to accommodate different sized bikes, but they also assist with loading. more

We're first going to show you how we do that. We have two cradles in place with three straps, two on our frame and one as our anti-sway strap in the back. We're going to start by pushing down on our lever and releasing those. more

Now we already have our bike secured down, so we're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. We're going to come here to the side and pull down on our lever, and that allows us to tilt our bike rack with our bikes fully loaded away from our vehicle. We'll open up our door. I've already gone ahead and checked. You can see that we just barely miss contact with our handlebars. more

Kuat Beta Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Toyota 4Runner- Video

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Kuat Beta Hanging Style Two-Bike Rack. That's part number B202-2. I've already got it loaded up on the 4Runner just to give you a good idea what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It actually secures them with three points of contact. We've got two straps for our top tube here, and then we've got one for seatpost tube. The one for our seatpost tube is actually going to be our anti-sway. It's going to help prevent or cut down some of the sway in our bike while we're on the road as well as prevent bike-to-bike contact and bike-to-vehicle contact. The cradles here are made out of a soft rubber, so we don't have to worry about them harming the finish on our bike. more

Hollywood Racks Sport-Rider-2 Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Toyota 4Runner- Video

Today on our 2012 toyota 4Runner, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2 Platform Style Two-Bike Rack. That's part number HR1000. I've already got it loaded up on the back of the 4Runner here just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our two bikes. It actually holds our bikes with three points of contact. We have this rubberized hook going over our top tube, putting down pressure into our front and rear cradles. Then, we've got a hook-and-loop strap going our wheels holding them in place. All in all not a bad way to hold our bikes while we're on the road. more
