Swagman Skaha 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Dodge Durango- Video
Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2 on our 2021 Dodge Durango. The Skaha 2 is going to be a platform style bike rack able to hold two bikes, individually weight rated for 60 pounds each, which means that our heavier e-bikes are going to be an option for this. Our two main points of contact are gonna be first, our hook on our front wheel, and then a strap for our back wheel meaning we're not making any frame contact. So our alternative frame bikes as well as those carbon frame bikes are gonna be an option for this bike rack too. One of the nice things about the Skaha 2 is it does offer a tilt away function. more

Kuat Piston Pro X 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Dodge Durango- Video

Now our bike rack is going to be a premium platform style bike rack, by allowing us to hold two bikes weighed at 67 pounds individually. It does come with a lot of really nice premium features that we'll kind of get into throughout the video. Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today I have the Saris MHS two-bike platform rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Winnebago Forza motorhome. So the MHS is gonna be great if you need to carry around extra heavy electric bikes, but also bikes of different shapes and sizes. Plus you want something that's easy to use. A lot of the RV rated bike racks have a lot of different levers, and handles, and straps that you have to deal with. This one makes it a lot more simple, but still has that RV capacity. more

Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack with Ramp Review - 2021 Dodge Durango- Video
Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2021 Dodge Durango. Our bike rack here is going to be a platform style bike rack, being able to hold up to two bikes for us each. Individually, those bikes can be up to 66 pounds so those heavier e-bikes are gonna be an option for this bike rack. Do keep in mind though, if you put this on an RV or take it offroading, your weight capacity is going to drop down to 40 pounds per bike. So really, just make sure you understand what kind of conditions you're going to be using this bike rack in. more

Now the Curt Premium, like I said, is a hanging style bike rack that is going to be weight rated for 180 pounds. So you can divide that up however you would like amongst different bikes. Because we are holding onto them by their frame, that means our carbon frame bikes unfortunately are not gonna be a great fit for this. However, because of the tapering off here at the edge, we are able to accommodate some kids' bikes. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we have the Yakima StageTwo 2-Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So the StageTwo is definitely gonna be your heavy-duty, off-road bike rack, but also, with a really good weight capacity for heavy electric bikes. Now, talking about that though, we do have this on our Jeep Wrangler with a large spare tire, so what I had to do was I had to put a hitch extension, that way, the bike rack would sit further back and I'd be able to put it on that hitch receiver. So if you want to use a bike rack, you may need to get a hitch extension too, we have some options here at etrailer. The downside of those hitch extensions is it reduces your tongue weight capacity, and you're gonna have to get a special anti-rattle for it to be secure. But with all that in mind, let's focus on this StageTwo bike rack. more

We'll take a look at how this system fits our 2021 Subaru Outback wagon. This setup is great if you're going for a big adventure, you're going to riding, need a bike rack that can carry your bikes different shapes and sizes. But you also need some cargo space for your helmets, your gear, your shoes, maybe your tents. This is a great way to store all of that. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rockymounts Afterparty on our 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Now to get in directly why we want this for the Jeep Wrangler and why this is such a good recommendation is the Rockymounts Afterparty actually comes with a swing away function. We found that most of our bike racks that have a tilt don't have enough an aggressive enough tilt to really open up on the hatch. So this swing way function is essentially going to help us correct that. Down here at the bottom of the rack, we do have this knob that when we loosen up, we are going to be able to pull a pin that is on the passenger side and go ahead and pull this away while also pivoting it. more

Yakima FullTilt 5 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima FullTilt hanging style bike rack and seeing how it fits on this 2023 Honda CR-V. With this being a hanging style rack, it's gonna hold the bike by the frame with the rest of the bike kind of hanging down below it. That's where it gets its name. This one holds it in place with two zip strips up top. RockyMounts GuideRail Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Cooper here at etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at our RockyMounts GuideRail on our 2023 Honda CR-V. Our bike rack is going to be a two-platform style bike rack, individually rated for 60 pounds each, meaning that our e-bikes are going to fit on it. As well as you can tell, there is no frame contact, which means that our carbon frame bikes, as well as our alternative frame bikes, are going to fit very well onto this rack. One of the really cool features about the GuideRail is it actually has a tilt-away feature. So holding onto our blue lever here, just holding onto our bike for a little extra security, we are able to tilt this away, allowing us access into our trunk. So that way we have our bike shoes back here, our helmets, maybe a water bottle or something. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Yakima FullTilt five bike hanging rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2021 Jeep Wrangler. So the Yakima FullTilt is the bike rack I would get if I had to get a hanging rack but I wanted one of the best ones. This is what I would get. It does have a lot of premium features that make it easier for you to load the bikes up, secure the bikes. And the downside though, is that even though it tilts away like its name says, with the Jeep Wrangler not really any hanging bike can tilt back far enough for you to reasonably open up that door. So with that in mind, if you wanted full door access, I'd recommend getting something like a hitch extender or a swing away hitch extender. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Hello everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have the Thule T2 Pro XTR two-bike platform rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2021 Jeep Wrangler. So the T2 Pro XTR, other than having a long name, does have some premium features that help out with carrying your bikes safely and securely. You have a good weight capacity of 60 pounds per bike, but I am using this bike rack with a hitch extender and that's because when we have that spare tire on, we have it folded up, it gets a little too close and we're not getting as good of a fit which is why we have an extender to push this out. Most of your bike racks with a Jeep Wrangler with a spare tire are going to need some kind of hitch extender if you want full use out of them. But having that extender has its downsides as well, like less hitch tongue weight capacity and it has a bit more movement if you don't get one with an anti-rattle feature. So with that in mind, let's focus on the features of the T2 Pro XTR. more

Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, I have the Saris Freedom 2-Bike Platform Rack, we'll take a look at how it fits our 2021 Jeep Wrangler. So the Saris Freedom is actually a really good fit with the Wrangler, because the spares tire limits the options for bike racks if you do not wanna use a hitch extender. So this sits pretty far back past its shank, which gives us that clearance to carry those two bikes. And if you wanna compare this with some other racks, well, this is gonna be on the still more affordable side while having a good weight capacity for electric bikes and some versatility for different sized and shaped bikes. So if you have say a large mountain bike and maybe a smaller road bike, this actually will work even better for you compared to the Saris SuperClamp, because this can go wherever while the SuperClamp wheel mounts are limited to each other. Now, focusing here on our Jeep, while we do have that clearance to add the bike on, we don't have as much clearance for things like tilting it away or opening up the door. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have the Hollywood Racks Destination E two bike platform rack for your electric bikes. And we'll take a look at how it fits our 2021 Jeep Wrangler. So the Destination E is really designed for electric bikes where you have an included ramp. Although the ramp's not attached to the rack you gotta keep it inside your vehicle and it has other features like adjustability for different types of frames. The downside though is that with how it fits on the Wrangler, it does not tilt down anywhere close to where you can open up the door. So the issue isn't the tilt, the issue is where this mast sits. more

Now one thing I wanna point out right out of the gate is that we are using this with a hitch extender. The bike rack just wasn't working without the hitch extender so what that is, it's just an extra piece that attaches in your hitch and extends it further from the vehicle. You can see it right down there. We're using the etrailer one right now and we're using about an eight inch extension. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Jeep Wrangler HR4000- Video
Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack's Destination four-bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Now this is gonna be a platform-style bike rack, holding the bike by our frame, using this cradle with a strap around it, and then two additional wheel straps down to the bottom that pull the bike down and in. That method of holding the bike actually helps get a really solid hold on the rack, which is great. This is one of my favorite bike racks to recommend for people getting into biking and looking for their first bike rack, especially if they need something for their family, because this does accommodate kids' bikes exceptionally well. It works with alternative frames very well, too, because this cradle slides up and down the mast independently from each other and rotates 360 degrees to accommodate for those alternative frames. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Jeep Wagoneer- Video
Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, I have the Yakima StageTwo 2-Bike Platform Rack, which we'll take a look at on a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the StageTwo has pretty impressive weight capacity of 70 pounds per bike, it has a lot of clearance for two bikes, so whether they're the same size or different, you know it's gonna fit. Plus, this is pretty sturdy. The downside to it is it is going to be pretty heavy, and on the Wagoneer, with it being so tall, that's also a lot of height you're gonna have to lift your 70 pound bike. So we'll talk about that, we'll take some measurements focusing on this car, but the first thing we'll do is we're going to tilt this away. So there's gonna be a handle at the end that you're gonna have to pull, and then you're gonna have to let that heavy weight of the bikes come down at you, so don't get hit. more

So the Freedom is going to be a steady bike rack, it's not gonna tilt away or anything like that, but it does have a lot of adjustability for different bikes of different shapes and sizes. It also has a weight capacity of 60 pounds per bike, which is pretty impressive for a lightweight bike rack like this. It definitely does have its downsides though. For example, with the Wagoneer, not being able to tilt away also means you can't open up the hatch unless you take the bike off. On the flip side, a lot of bike racks don't tilt the way far enough to open up the hatch anyways. more

So if you are looking for a bike rack where you don't have to pay extra for those bells and whistles that you may not need, this is the one that you would start with. But with this bike rack, of course, it also has its downsides, like you don't get those premium features like tilting away or included locks. And if you need one to secure your bikes and or your rack, those are things you'd have to purchase separately. Now talking about the Wagoneer though, with how it works with this vehicle, it actually creates a nice stable platform for your bikes to get them from point A to point B without too much extra work. more

So the GuideRail is usually one of my preferred bike racks because it's a dual wheel mount style bike rack which you can check out the comparison of that here at etrailer, and that makes it quicker and easier to carry around bikes, mount them and dismount them. Now, with how it fits on the Wagoneer, there's some perks and some downsides to it too. Perks are you do have a premium qualities you'd expect from a premium rack, like a heavy weight capacity. Downside is that it sits really high up on the Wagoneer. But, on another hand, you also have the features like it tilts away and it actually clears the Wagoneer's big hatch. more

Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack with Ramp Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima On-Ramp, hitch-bounded bike rack, and seeing how it fits in the back of our 2023 Honda CR-V. The On-Ramp is a platform style bike rack and this one holds the bike in trays. You can slide the bikes back and forth anywhere along these trays so long as the wheel straps reach the wheels and our frame clamp here can wrap around the frame. It's gonna be really more of a cradle with a strap around it than a clamp. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Hi, everyone. Aiden here at the etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro Hanging-Style Bike Rack, and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Honda CR-V. With this being a Hanging-Style Bike Rack, that does present some limitations. This isn't gonna be the best fit for carbon frame bikes because hanging by the frame here isn't good for those more fragile frames. This one holds it in these cradles with two straps over the top, and one around the side to limit our side-to-side movement, acting as an anti-sway cradle. more

Swagman Skaha 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2-Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Honda CR-V. The Skaha is a platform-style bike rack, holding up to two bikes in these wheel cradles and holding them primarily by our front tire using the wheel hook. Because it uses the wheel hook, we don't have any sort of frame contact here, making this a good option for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, it can handle some e-bikes too. At the bottom of the bike rack towards the front end here, there's gonna be a green lever. This is what we can use to tilt the rack down, releasing the mechanism there, and lowering the rack down. more

Swagman E-Spec Electric Bike Rack Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video

This platform-style rack holds the bike in two sets of wheel cradles that are adjustable on these arms, front to back, allowing us to fit a variety of different wheel bases. In addition to that, it's going to hold the bike by the frame with this frame hook up top. The frame hook will ratchet down over the center mast here and hold the bike in place. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Rocky Mounts MonoRail hitch mounted rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Honda CR-V. Now the Monorail is going to be a platform style bike rack. Platform means that it's going to sit on top of this tray in these wheel cradles and this one is going to be a really great value option in my opinion. It can hold up to 60 pounds per bike, two bikes each and it's going to have no frame contact holding the bike by the front tire here using this wheel hook and the back tire with a wheel strap. No frame contact makes this a great option for carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes making this a very versatile rack in terms of what bikes it can work with. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Honda CR-V. The Destination E is a platform style bike rack, holding the bike in these trays and primarily by our frame using this frame clamp. This is gonna rotate 360 degrees, move around the mast on the back here, and allow us to meet the bike where it is, that makes it a great option for alternative frame bikes. And with this being an e-bike rack, it can support up to 70 pounds per bike, so some of our bigger e-bikes can fit on here. The one thing I would steer away from is carbon frame bikes, because frame contact already isn't good for the carbon frame, and especially a clamp like this where we're putting a lot of pressure around that frame. more

The NV is a platform-style bike rack, holding the bike in these trays with that front tire in a wheel cradle, held in by a wheel hook. That's gonna mean there's zero frame contact on the bike, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, you can get an e-bike on here too. There will be a second point of contact with the back tire in the form of a wheel strap. That's really just meant to hold that back tire down, keep it secured. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Y36FR- Video
Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have the Yakima On-Ramp Two Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the On-Ramp is gonna be good for your heavy electric bikes because it has an included ramp that's actually attached to the rack which is good because other bike racks that have ramps have to be stored inside of the vehicle. Now with this too you can also carry your heavier electric bikes and is one of the few bike racks that tilts far enough away so that you have hatch clearance on the Wagoneer. It does have some downsides too like there's a lot of different levers and straps that you do have to deal with so it's not as quick and easy as the Kuat NV. So let's talk about that. When we're talking about levers and pins, if we wanna tilt this bike rack away there's two pins that you have to deal with. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. The Destination 4 is great if you wanna carry around a lot of bikes without taking up a lot of space or spending a lot of money. It does have its pros where it can carry a variety of sizes of bikes. It can even fit your little kids' bikes and your larger mountain bikes or step through bikes but also has some downsides. Like it only has a 35 pound weight capacity per bike and it doesn't tilt away. But for how it fits on the Wagoneer, not tilting away is actually not a bad thing because most bike racks that do tilt away don't tilt away far enough for the hatch on the Wagoneer to open up fully. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack's Destination two-bike platform rack and how it fits our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the Destination 2 is a really compact, lightweight, and portable bike rack. For an entry level rack, it's actually one of my favorites because it just gets the job done, plus it can fit a variety of bikes whether you're really small kids bikes or your larger step-through bikes even. Now it does have its downsides too like it can't tilt away, plus it has a maximum weight capacity of 35 pounds per bike. But for the Wagoneer, not being able to tilt away is actually not a bad thing because most bikes that do tilt away, don't tilt the away enough for the Wagoneer's large hatch. more

So the Destination E is actually pretty impressive. Guess it does have its downsides where it does take a little bit more time to use, and more straps, and levers, and things like that, but honestly, for the Jeep Wagoner, this is one of the only bike racks that can tilt away far enough where you can still open up the hatch. Plus with how high up this is off of the ground, most bike racks make it a little tricky to lift your heavy electric bikes up, but this one has an included ramp. So we'll talk about features like that, and I'll show you how it does make a good fit for the Wagoneer. more
