Swagman Chinook 2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video
Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Swagman Chinook two bike platform rack for an 1 1/4" and 2" hitches on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is a heavy duty bike rack that's gonna allow you to carry bikes of up to 45 pounds per bike. It is a frame hold, so if you have a carbon frame style bike or anything with a weird shaped frame, this might not be the one for you. But this does have a lot of great value considering its price point because you can tilt it away with the bikes still loaded. And that way we can access our hatch, grab anything we might need, even sit in there and change our shoes. So we have three attachment points keeping your bike on the rack. more

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going, everyone Ethan with Etrailer here to show you the Yakima FullTilt Hanging Bike Rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. This rack will support five bikes up to 150 pounds total. So about 30 pounds per bike. One thing to consider is that it's probably not gonna be the best fit for alternative style and kids style bikes. And if you have a carbon frame bike, you probably wanna avoid any sort of use of this at all 'cause it's gonna be held solely on the frame here. Okay, so one thing that we're gonna note here is that once you take this anti-sway out of play, and I can't, it's not the easiest thing to get to in the world to be honest but once you get that out, you're gonna notice that the bike does move pretty good back and forth but gravity usually does its thing and holds those in place for the most part. more

This is gonna be a great way to get your heavier bikes, maybe your odd shape frame bikes and your carbon frame bikes, out onto the road so you can get to riding. Now this is gonna have a 60 pound weight capacity, which is gonna be able to hold a majority of the bikes you may be getting, including your heavier mountain bikes and then some of your e-bikes. Along with that, like I said, it'll be able to hold carbon frame and odd shape frame bikes, because it holds the bike by the wheels. Now, like I said, it's going to have a pretty good weight capacity which is going to be able to hold everything from your heavier mountain bikes to your E-bikes, but it unfortunately will not be able to hold any of your fat tire bikes, because it only has a three inch tire width capacity. more

Kuat Piston Pro X Bike Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video
Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the Kuat Piston Pro X 2-Bike Platform Rack here on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is honestly probably my favorite rack, all the details and features all add up and make it a really pleasant experience working with this rack. First and foremost, you have a 67 pound weight capacity, so it's gonna be great for carrying those heavy electric bikes, and since it is a dual wheel mount, you don't have to worry about your carbon frame bikes, the women's bikes, or anything with a weird shaped frame. I'm gonna go ahead and start by tilting it away, there is a lever back here, you just push that and tilt it away, and now, we can go ahead and grab anything out of our hatch. We have plenty of room to even sit down, change our shoes if we need. What makes this one of my favorite racks is just how quick it is to take your bike on and off the rack, giving you more time to enjoy your bike ride. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video
Hi to everyone, John here, and today, we're taking a look at the Hollywood Destination E-Bike on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is gonna be a great choice if you need to get your e-bikes or your bigger fat tire bikes out onto the trail, and get to riding. It's going to have a 70 pound weight capacity per bike, along with a 4.5 wheel width maximum, which is really good. You'll be able to hold the majority of your bikes that you run into, whether those are mountain bikes, fat tire bikes, or e-bikes. Along with that, I do wanna point out that this is frame mounted, so, if you have odd shaped frames, it's a little bit hard to work with. As you can see, even though we have a straight frame, it's still a little bit of a pain to, kind of, get in the right position, and then, also you won't be able to use this on any kind of carbon frame, so that's always something to keep in mind, but, if you happen to have something that's a little bit sturdier and heartier, I think this is gonna be a good choice. more

Howdy everyone, John here, and today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Destination Two Bike on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is gonna be a great way to get your road bikes to the trail. So let's take a closer look. So this is gonna have a 35 weight capacity per bike, so that's gonna be pretty good for your road bikes and some of your lighter mountain bikes, but I would not recommend this for heavier, fat tire bikes or e-bikes. It's also not gonna be great for any odd shaped frame bikes or any kind of carbon frame because it is frame-mounted. So keep that in mind. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at the Swagman Current on the back of our 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The Swagman Current is a platform style bike rack, it's gonna hold the bike in these wheel cradles, and primarily, by our frame. We've got a frame hook on the top and two wheel straps on the bottom for secondary points of contact. The frame hook is going to make frame contact, so that does mean avoiding our carbon frame bikes and picking up a bike adapter bar for any alternative frame bikes just so we have a solid attachment point. With this though, you do have a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, so it's gonna be good for some of our e-bikes. more

Now, that's gonna mean it has zero frame contacts, so it's gonna be good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and it does have a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, so it is gonna be good for some of our smaller e-bikes too. Like many other platform racks this does have the ability to tilt away with bikes loaded. You've gotta handle at the back end that you can give a squeeze to lower it down. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we'll be taking a look at how the Rhino-Rack two-bike hanging rack fits on a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. So this is a hanging rack that is ideal if you want something that's more compact. Doesn't take up much space. Since this has the ability to carry around two bikes, it's very, very short. So that way if you maybe have a smaller garage, you need to back up into a tight spot, you already have a larger SUV so this helps with that. Now, hanging racks do have their downsides as well when it comes to stability as well as ease of getting into the car. more

Kuat NV 2-0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video
How's it going Ethan with etrailer here to show you the NV Base 2.0 on the 2020 Ford Escape. So with the NV Base, you have the wheel hook here as your primary point of contact and the strap in the back as your secondary point, so there's no contact with the frame at all, which is great for carbon bikes or alternative frame bikes. So your wheel base here will support you from anywhere up to 50 inches, and the weight capacity is about 60 pounds per bike, so it'll support most of your larger mountain bikes and maybe even some e-bikes. So if you come down here, you can see this pedal that allows you to tilt this back, and that gives you a little bit more room to see if you can't get enough clearance to open your hatch. So as you can see here, plenty of room, no real troubles with that. They go right back down, and then you can come right back around to the front, lift this guy up until you hear a click, and then you should be nice and secure and ready to go. more

The Hollywood Racks is a platform style bike rack that holds the bike in these trays and by our frame. We've got a clamp that will hold down around the frame, tighten using a hand knob and it's fully lockable. So it does make frame contact which means we do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes but this clamp does rotate 360 degrees and it has the ability to pivot and slide and meet the frame where it is. So any sort of alternative frame should be just fine. more

Hi, everyone. It's Aiden here with the etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the CURT Premium on our 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The CURT Premium is a hanging style bike rack. It'll hold the bike by the frame hanging down below, with two straps over the top to keep it down in these cradles, with a third strap around the seat post there limiting our side to side movement. It doesn't entirely eliminate it, but it does help with bike-to-bike contact, and in some cases, bike-to-vehicle contact if it we're to sway too much. more

The Helium's gonna be a platform style bike rack like the name suggests, it's gonna hold the bike in these trays and by our wheels. You've got a dual wheel mount design here holding the bike by each tire. That means zero frame contact, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and it does have a 45 pound weight capacity per bike, so not the best option for e-bikes. I think overall it works fairly okay on the RAV4, although there are some concerning fitment issues that we'll point out as the video goes on, but just know that kind of going into it. more

Now, like the name suggests this is going to be a bike rack tailored towards e-bikes. It's got a 70 pound weight capacity per bike, so it's a little bit heavier, a little bit more than the typical 60 pounds you might see in a lot of other bike racks. So if you've got a heavier e-bike this might be a great way to go, plus it's gonna be really easy to operate, like we'll show you later in the video. It's gonna hold the bike in these trays with three straps at the bottom, but primarily with our frame clamp up top that just tightens down around the frame. more

John here and today we're taking a look at the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack on our 2022 Toyota Venza. This is gonna be a great choice if you need to take your mountain bikes, your electric bikes, any kind of bike that you really need. Now, right off the bat, let's go over some of the specs so you kind of have an idea of what you can put on this bike rack. And there's not too many bikes that you can't put on. Whenever it comes to how it's being held, it's being held by the back tire here with the strap and then also, this hook right here, and it's gonna be pushed up right onto the bike wheel itself. So there's gonna be no frame contact, which means if you have any carbon frame bikes or odd shaped frame bikes, you're gonna be fine to have this on there. more

John here, today we're taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2022 Toyota Venza. This is gonna be a great choice if you've got yourself some heavier bikes or maybe some electric bikes and you need to get them to the trail. This is going to have a 66 pound weight capacity which is really good. That's gonna take care of most of your heavier mountain bikes and your electric bikes. And the fact is it has a ramp system which is gonna be very useful and we'll show you that later. But let's say you have those heavier bikes, how are you gonna get them off your bike rack You could lift them off and that is a little bit tougher, but with the ramp system if you aren't as strong whenever it comes to upper body, you're gonna be able to still get those electric bikes off and get them on the road. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Toyota Venza- Video
John here and today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Destination 2 bike rack on our 2022 Toyota Venza. This is gonna be a great choice if you need to just get you and a friend out to the bike trails or just to go riding at the park or anywhere else you may need to go with those smaller and lighter bikes. Now, right off the bat, whenever it comes to how it's held, it's going to be held at the frame. It's three points. One that's going to be on the frame here, and then two on the actual wheels. So you're not gonna want to use your odd-shaped frame bikes, even though I will say, it does have a little bit of movement, which is nice, but it will not also be able to go on any of your carbon frame because it could damage it. more

Swagman Current 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going everybody It's Ethan at etrailer here today to talk to you about the Swagman Current bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Current is a two bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bike primarily by the frame hooks here and by a couple different secondary points of contact down at the bottom with our straps it's capable of supporting up to 60 pounds per bike. One of the things I like about this rack is the tilt away feature. Pulling up on this green knob lever in the back, tilt it down and that should give you plenty of clearance to access cargo hold in the back. As you can see, no real issues with that at all. Plenty of space to get in, change shoes, access anything that you might need from the cargo area and get back out. more

How's it going everyone It's Ethan with etrailer here and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris SuperClamp EX on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Saris SuperClamp EX is a two bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bikes primarily through these hooks here. The tire hooks on either side and two extra straps on the bottom. I really like the hooks themselves because they allow you for a wider range of bikes. They hold onto the tires themselves and not the frames which is really nice for alternative style bikes and if you want to avoid carbon fiber bike damage. The rack itself is capable of supporting up to 60 pounds per bike. more

Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
How's it going, everyone Ethan from etrailer here, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at our Kuat Transfer on our 2020 Toyota RAV 4. The Transfer is a two-bike platform rack, capable of supporting up to 40 pounds per bike, primarily held here by our wheel hooks and one other strap in the back. I like the wheel hooks themselves, as they avoid any sort of frame contact. For example, with our carbon frame bike here, it's just nice to know that there's not gonna be any damages with that, as you're bumping along on the road. And in general, I think it's a pretty solid hold. Another great feature of the Transfer here, if you lift this hook away, you can use your foot actually to access this pedal. more

The Sport Rider SE is a two-bike platform bike rack, capable of supporting bikes up to 80 pounds each, held primarily by these frame hooks, and a couple of straps on either wheel. The frame hooks do hold the bike, like I mentioned, primarily by the frame itself. So if that's something that's important to you or if you have a carbon frame bike, you're probably gonna wanna avoid this type of rack, just 'cause it could potentially damage the frame while you're driving. In order to tilt this bike, you do actually have to remove this pin. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Rack Sport Rider SE two bike platform style bike rack for electric bikes. But that's not to say that it's not gonna work with normal bikes and today it's gonna be on a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. It's no surprise that e-bikes have definitely become more and more popular and as the years kind of go on I can only imagine it's gonna become even bigger. So one of the downsides with e-bikes at least currently now, is they are pretty heavy. So you do need a bike rack that's going to accompany that weight. And this one is actually pretty highly rated at 80 pounds per bike. more

Thule Helium Platform XT Bike Rack Review - 2014 Toyota Prius v- Video
Hi everyone, it's Evangeline, right here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at how the Thule Helium XT fits on the 2014 Toyota Prius V. So for your Toyota Prius V, you do have different options for hitch receivers. I currently have the two inch hitch on there, but I do see a lot of people with the inch and a quarter hitch receiver option. When you have that smaller receiver size, your options are limited for bike racks, especially the more premium ones. So this is a great option, because you have that inch and a quarter shank, the included two inch adapter, and you still have that dual wheel mount design and premium features, like locks and a slightly higher weight capacity. more
