Well firstly, we locate the manufacturer's round seven-wire connector. Note, if your vehicle is equipped to the spare tire, you may need to lower the spare tire to gain access to the wiring. To this application, we don't have a spare tire in the way so we'll go ahead and locate the wiring. Here on the cross member of the frame rail, let me just pull it down as it's clipped to the wiring harness. We now have access to it. We'll then go ahead, press on the locking tab or we can remove the cap. Once we removed the cap, we're ready to install the new 4-pole trailer connector. more

Today on our 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, we'll be installing the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness, Part Number 41157. Now, to begin our install, we're going to our 7-pole, supplied with the install kit, and mount it here in the pickup bed on the driver's side, behind the wheel well, in front of the tailgate. This will give us easy access. To mount it in the pickup bed side, we're going to go ahead and drill through the bed liner, through the sheet metal, and then mount it using the self-tapping screws provided with the install kit. Now, we need to make a hole large enough for the back of the 7-pole socket, so we're going to drill out a 2-1/8 inch hole as per the instructions. Now with the hole drilled out, we need to take the 7-pole connector that matches the back of our 7-pole socket, and feed it from underneath, up and out through our cut out hole. Then, we'll go ahead and take the 7-pole connector, attach the wiring harness, and mount it to the pickup bed side. Now, I'm going to go ahead and feed the 7-pole over the frame and then up through our hole. more

Once we find that we'll go ahead and drill out a pilot hole.
