We already have our bike secured down, I'm first going to show you how we do that. We have two cradles in place with three straps, two on our frame, and one is right anti sway in the back. We're going to pull down and lift up to release those, and we can pull our bike off, and set it off to the side. Now we'll take a few measurements here, first is going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle, we're to have about 34 1/2 inches. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek nv22B- Video
Today on our 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack, part number NV22G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first one I like to show off is that fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, you hold onto the bike rack, come up to this latch on the passenger side, pull down like so, just gently let it down, and now we have access to our rear hatch to get whatever we need with plenty of space on both sides to do so. Go ahead and lift that back into position. How the bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have two points of contact with no frame contact at all. more

Today on our 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're doing a test fit of the Yakima Hold Up Platform Style 2 Bike Bike Rack. That part number is Y02443. Now we already have our bike secured down. First we're first going to show you one of the key features of the rack. We're going to come here to the back, lift up on our rack, and then pull out on our red pin, and that's going to allow us to tilt our back rack fully loaded away from our vehicle. With that tilted away, we're going to gain access into our back hatch area, to get anything in or out that we may need. You may notice we have a few inches between that door and our handlebars whenever it's opening. more

To do that, you want to hold on the bike rack, never the bike. There's a handle at the front here, which is pretty nice because some of the other bike racks that do this, their handle is off to the side and it makes it a little bit awkward to try to lower it. more

We're first going to show you how we secure it in place. We have two cradles in place with three straps, two on our frame here, and then one as our anti-sway in the back. I'm going to start by pulling down and lifting up to release, and we can remove our bike and set it off to the side. With our bike out of the way, we'll take a look at some of the features of our rack itself. We've got our integrated cable lock up here, we also have a few other features like the grooves down in the bottom of the cradle so that your brake line can sit there without damaging them, and of course we have that locking portion down here at the back that's going to attach to our integrated cable to prevent any theft or tampering. Now we can take a few measurements here. more

Now the only difference between the 2-bike rack and the 3-bike rack is of course the extra cradles and about 10". Just keep that in mind when making your selection. Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek TS03B- Video
Today on our 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek we'll be doing a test fit on the Kuat Transfer 3-bike rack. That's part number TS03G. Now I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It actually secures our bike in two spots. We have this large wheel hook going over our front wheel in front of our brakes, or our fork, whatever comes first, putting down pressure into our front wheel cradle. Then in the back we just have a wheel strap going over and back into itself, and ratcheting down and keeping that in place. One of the greatest features about this bike rack is it has the ability to tilt away so we can gain better access to our rear hatch. more

You're going to want to pull that out, like so, and holding onto the bike rack, let it gently come forward and with that we have access to our rear hatch to get anything we need. To put the bike rack back into position, just simply lift up and when you hear that click, it's locked into place. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, you're going to have two points of contact, we're going to have a wheel hook up at the front here and a wheel strap towards the rear. more

Today on this 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack, part number S64665. We already have a bike attached to the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look at it and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually to the vehicle, we're going to have 3 points of contact with only 1 point of contact being your frame, and that's going to be the hook up here, which is padded so your bike will not get scratched up when it's being installed, and then there's wheel straps on both the front and rear wheels. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Start with the wheel straps first. Now, when you loosen up the frame hook, you want to make sure you hold on to the bike at all times so it doesn't go falling forward into the vehicle. You'll see this gray button here. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike actually attaches to the rack, we are going to have four points of contact with the bike's frame. We are going to have three straps up at the top here and one off to the side and that is going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from going too far back and forth, possibly hitting the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. With the bike rack in this position, measuring from the bumper to this edge here, we have have added about 40 inches to the rear of the vehicle. Now for close quarters situations such as parking, these arms do fold down. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek ts03B- Video
Today on this 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Platform Rack, part number TS03G. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature I like to show off is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, lift up the arms here, there's this lever here that you can actually kick in with your foot and lower the bike rack down. With it tilted away, we'll have access to the rear hatch, and get whatever we need. To put it back into position, again, you go with the bike rack, never the bike, push up, you'll hear that click, and it's locked into place. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, you're going to have two points of contact with no frame contact at all. We'll have a wheel hook up at the front, and this wheel strap at the back. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact and only one to the frame, and that's going to be the frame hookup at the top here, which is padded to make sure your bike will not get scratched when you install it. We also have wheel straps on either wheel. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To do that, we'll start with the wheel straps first. Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek c18064- Video
Today on this 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be testing the Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack, part number C18064. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature to show off is how the arms themselves actually bend inward towards the end and that will accommodate different size bikes. To attach the bike to the rack, there's going to be 3 points of contact on your bike's frame. We're going to have 2 straps up at the top here, and one off to the side, and that's going to act as an added sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth, possibly hitting the bike rack where the bike's in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Now with the bike rack in this position, measuring from the bumper, we've added about 36 inches to the rear of our vehicle. more

Today on this 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we are going to be test fitting the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack, part number TH912XTR. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we are going to have three points of contact with the bike's frame. We are going to have two rubber straps up at the top, then one off to the side and that is going to serve as an anti-sway strap which will keep the bike from moving too far back and forth possibly hitting the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. So I am going to go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Okay. With the bike rack in this position, measuring from the bumper to this edge here, we have added about 28 inches to the rear of the vehicle. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today in our 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon, we'll be doing a test for the Swagman Quad 2 plus 2, 2 bike, or 4 bike platform style rack. That's Part Number S64692. I've already go it loaded up on a Suba, just to give you a good idea of what it's going to look like. As I said in the introduction it is a platform style rack. It secures our bike in 3 spots. We've got our two wheels in the cradles there. more

Today on our 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon, we'll be doing a test for the Swagman G10 platform style two bike rack. That's part number S64682. I've already got loaded it up on the back of the Outback, just to give you a good idea what it's going to look like. It secures our bike in three spots. We have two straps and our two cradles for the front and rear tires. We also have this nice big frame hook, frame hook, excuse me, that puts down pressure into the cradles holding it in position. more
