Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video

Today on our 2013 Mazda CX5, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman XC2 bike rack, part number S-64650. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have one point of contact, and that's going to be this padded frame hook up at the top, so we don't have to worry about any scratching of the bike once it gets installed. We also have these adjustable wheel creels at the base here, you just loosen them up, and you can move them along the arms to accommodate different sized bikes, and to assist with loading. It also has this nice raised shank here, so the vehicles with hitches that sit low, it's not going to have any clearance issues between the bike rack, and the ground. I'm just going to take the bike off and set it aside. more

Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video

Hollywood Racks Road Runner Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video

Today, on our 2013 Mazda CX-5, well be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Road Runner 3-Bike Carrier, Part Number HR310. To begin our test fit, will simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, insert our pin through our pinhole and secure the lock on the other side. We can then turn the black handle at the back of the shank to engage our anti-rattle device, securing our Hollywood Racks Road Runner to our CX-5.Well now go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 12 inches of ground clearance. With the cradle arms folded down, weve added about 11 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Well now pull the pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out and with the cradle arms out, weve added about 28 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.To access the cargo area, well pull out the pin and clip at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. more

Thule Apex 4 Swing Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video

Today, on our 2013 Mazda CX-5, well be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing 4-Bike Carrier, Part Number TH9027.Now, keep in mind this vehicle is equipped with a class two hitch and well only be allowed to carry two bikes. But with this vehicle, you do have the option of having a class three hitch to be able to carry four bikes on your carrier.To begin our test fit, well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, allow the integrated hitch pin to fall into place and turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device securing our Thule Apex Swing to our Mazda CX-5.Now, with the bike rack secured to our CX-5, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 13 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our CX-5 is here at the rear bumper about two inches away. With the cradle arms folded down, weve added about 12 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Well now pull the gray lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, weve added about 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Kuat Beta Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video

Today, on our 2013 Mazda CX-5, well be test fitting the Kuat Beta Hitch-Mounted Aluminum 2-Bike Carrier for 1-1/4 trailer hitches, Part Number B202-114.Now to begin our test fit, well simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, insert our pin through our pinholes and secure with a clip on the other side. We then can turn the black T-handle on the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device.Now, that our Kuat Beta is secured to our CX-5, well go over some clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our CX-5 is here at the rear bumper about 6-1/2 inches away. With the cradle arms folded down, weve added about 13 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Well now pull the pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, weve added about 26 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.To access the cargo area, well pull the pin at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. more

Kuat Alpha Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video

Today, on our 2013 Mazda CX-5, well be test fitting the Kuat Alpha Folding Aluminum 3-Bike Carrier, Part Number A103-white-114.To begin our test fit, well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, insert our anti-rattle bolt and secure with a lock on the other side. Well move to the back of the carrier and turn the black T-handle to engage our anti-rattle device.Now, that our Alpha is secured to our CX-5, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our CX-5 is about 7 inches away. With the cradle arms folded down, weve added about 14 inches to the overall length of our vehicle.Well now pull the pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, weve added about 32 inches to the length of our Mazda CX-5.To access the cargo area, well pull the pin located at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. more

Kuat Sherpa Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video

Today on our 2013 Mazda CX5 well be test fitting part number S102, the Kuat Sherpa two bike platform style bike carrier. To begin our test fit well slide the bike rack shank into the hitch using the included adapter for the two inch hitch. Well line up the hitch pin hole and install our hitch pin. We can then move to the back of the shank where well tighten the knob down, securing our bike rack to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. With the platform in the stored position from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is an inch and a half. more
