Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape TH912XTR- Video
Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule Roadway hanging style 2 bike rack, that's part number TH912XTR. I've already got it loaded up on the Escape with our bike loaded up as well just to give you a good idea on what it's going to look like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It secures our bikes in 3 spots. We have 2 straps going over our top tube and then 1 for our seat post tube. This one is going to be our anti sway strap. It's going to prevent a lot of the sway in the bike while we're on the road as well as prevent bike to bike contact and bike to vehicle contact. Let's go ahead and take our bike off. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape- Video
Today, on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be doing a test fit of the Swagman XC2 Platform-Style Two Bike Rack. That's part number S64650. I've already got it loaded up on the Escape, just to give you a good idea of what it's going to look like and how it's going to secure our bikes. It secures our bike in one big spot, and that's going to be this top tube here. We've got this hook going over our top tube, putting down pressure into our front and rear cradles. All in all, it's nice security for our bike. It's quick and easy. Let's go ahead and take our bike off. more

Today on the 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test-fitting the Kuat Transfer 3-bike platform rack, part number TS03G. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and show off some of the features. The first thing, the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still installed on it. To do that, go ahead and lift these up, holding on to the bike rack, never the bike, pushing down on this lever at the front. Gently let it down. Now we have access to our rear hatch. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Pro 2 bike rack, part #TH9034. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack and first I'd like to show you it's most important feature which is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bikes still attached. You go up to the front here which has this pull handle, you pull in holding onto the bike rack, let it come forward and you have complete access to your rear hatch. Now to put it back in its original position, you just grab the handle again, lift up until you hear that click and it's locked back into place. Now what's nice about this is the fact that the handle's on the outside here where a lot of other bike racks will have handles more toward the inside, it'd be a little bit harder to get to. Okay, now how the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 2 points of contact and absolutely no frame contact at all with your back. We'll have a wheel hook up at the front here and wheel strap at the back. more

Also we have this cable lock here which will go up and around the bikes and up to this point here where it can lock and add further security for your bikes while you travel. Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Softride element parallelogram tilting bike rack, part number SR26248. Now, as you can see, we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and show off some of the features. The most important feature about this is that it actually tilts away from the bike rack with the bikes installed, which is pretty unique since this is a hanging bike rack and not a platform. To do that, there's this handle here on the passenger side, right here. Pull that out and it actually tilts away from the vehicle like so, and you can do this with all 4 bikes on it. We have access to our rear hatch, with more than enough room on either side to get what you need. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Inno Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack, part number INH305-306. As you can see, we already have a bike installed on the rack. The first thing I like to show off is pretty much the most important feature, which is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. You come up to the front here to the switch, pull out on it, holding onto the bike rack. Let it tilt down. Now we have access to our hatch without having to remove the bikes. more

Today on our 2010 Ford Edge, we're doing a test fit of the Saris Bones Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Rack. That part number is SA882. Now, we already have our bike in place, but first I'm going to show you how we do that. We have 3 straps altogether, 2 on our frame here, and we have 1 as our anti-sway strap from the back. With those released, we can pull out our bike off the rack, and set it off to the side, and then I suggest you replace your strap so you don't lose or damage them. Now, when you remove straps, it's always good practice to put them back into place, primarily because you don't want to loose them while you're driving, and you don't want them flapping around when you're driving, either. With that done, I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements now. The first is going to be how much distance is added to the vehicle once the bike rack is installed. I'm going to go ahead and measure form the bumper since that's the furthest point out. From this arm down it's about 37 inches. And our ground clearance ... more

Today, on our 2016 Ford F350, we're test fitting the Thule Roadway. Now, this is a hanging style 2 bike rack. It's been designed for use with the 1 1/4" over 2" hitches, part number on it is TH912XTR. Now, the Roadway's a really straightforward, simple, and very easy to use bike rack. We've got 3 straps that're going to hold our bike in place, 2 up here for the frame on the top and we've also got an anti-sway cradle, there, does a nice job of keeping the bike from moving back and forth. To release it, we'll just pull down and out on our straps, and we can bring our bike right on off. more

Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2006 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2006 Ford F-150, we've got out the Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack. This is a hanging rack; offers a tilt and a fold feature. Part number on it is C18064. One of the standout things about the Curt Bike Rack is going to be the taper that we've got in our cradle arms. Our two front bike locations, nice and wide, helps with the larger bikes. As you can see back here, we've got a hybrid style bike, children's bike, something like that; they're going to narrow it down and help to accommodate those. We've got reflectors, right there in the end, to help us with visibility. The bike is held in place using three straps: We've got one here on the front cradle; one here on the rear cradle, for our top tube; and then we've also got an anti-sway cradle, here in the back; does a fair job of keeping that bike from moving forward to back. Now we'll pull down and out on those straps; it'll help us to release our bike. more

Today on our 2006 Ford F150, we've got the Yakima Full Tilt out. We're going to do a test fit and see what kind of spacing we have between the rack and the truck. This is a hanging style 4 bike rack. It's been designed so we can use it with the inch and a quarter or with 2 inch hedges. Part number is going to be Y02462. Something I really like about the full tilt is going to be the cradle system here. Really small, really narrow cradles, they use what are called zip strips to hold their bike in place. more

Now the Vertex is a 4 bike hanging style rack that folds and tilts we've got a lot of adjustability with it. Part number on it is TH9029XT. This has been designed for use with 1 1/4 or with 2 inch hitches, so again pretty versatile. One thing I like about it the incorporated cable lock here, we can bring that right back and stick in there, we'd secure it with the, just with the Thule one key tumbler in there so we can even get a lock for the rack if we want to lock it to the car and have the same key. Stores up in the mast when not in use. The bike is then held in place using 3 cradles and straps. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Edge TH912XTR- Video
Today on our 2012 Ford Edge, we're going to be test fitting the Thule RoadWay Two Bike Rack, part number TH912XTR. Now we already have a bike on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look at some of the features. You're going to have three points of contact on your bike's frame to hold it in place. You have the two straps up on top as well a the anti-sway strap which keeps it from going back and forth, possibly hitting the bike in front of it. Let's go ahead and take that off. Today on our 2011 Ford Edge, we're going to go ahead and test fit the Thule Vertex 4 Bike Rack, part number TH9029XT. We already have a bike installed on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show you how everything hooks up. We have three points of contact on the bike's frame. There are two straps on top and one to the side, which is the anti-sway strap, which keeps the bike from moving back and forth, possibly hitting the bike in front of it. Let's go ahead and take that off. Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2011 Ford Edge- Video
Today on this 2011 Ford Edge, we're going to be test fitting the Pro Series Q-Slot 2 and 4 bike rack, part number PS63138. Now, we already have a bike installed here and as you can see, this is a platform rack. Let's go ahead come in close and take a look at some of the features. Now, this one has 3 points of contact with your bike. One on the frame with the frame hook here, and you have two wheel straps on the front and the back tire. Let's go ahead and remove those with the hook and loop fasteners. Now, to loosen up the frame hook here, you have these knobs on both hooks. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Expedition- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford Expedition we're doing the test fit of the Swagman XC 2-Bike rack platform style, part number S64650. We have our bike on on our and we have our rack hooked to our vehicle. I'd like to just show you a few features of it. How the bike is connected to the bike rack itself, we just have our frame hook here. To disengage it you press the button, pull up and to engage it you just pull ring down till you can't bring it any more. Now always hold onto your bike, go ahead and take this up and we'll take off our bike, set it off to the side. Alrighty now we're gonna take a few measurements just to show you the overall distance we added to our vehicle. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Fiesta we're doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex 4 bike rack with tilting feature. That part number is TH9029XT. See there we have a bike already on our rack. I'll show you a few features of it. Now how our bike is held down, we have 3 straps, 2 to the top and 1 to the side which is our anti-sway strap. I'm going to take the ones n top first and we're going to take off the anti-sway strap. If you're loading your bike, just do the opposite way. more
