Yakima FullTilt 5 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Dodge Durango- Video
Hi, Matt here with etrailer, and today we're gonna be talking about the Yakima FullTilt Bike Rack on the back of the 2022 Dodge Durango. One of the main features that sets this hanging style bike rack from the other ones is it has the potential to carry five bikes at one time, each at 40 pounds and a maximum of 150 pounds. And since it makes contact with the bike rack, it's not gonna be compatible with carbon frame bike racks or alternative frame bike racks. And since its weight capacity is only 40 pounds, it will not be compatible with e-bikes either. Now if you do have an alternative style bike or a child's bike, we do have these adapter bars that make them compatible with the hanging frames. You do have these adjustable clips that keep your bikes in place. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Dodge Durango- Video
Hi Matt here with the etrailer, and today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 on the back of the 2022 Dodge Durango. This rack is capable of holding four bikes, 35 pounds each, has three straps, one on each tire and one on the frame. This is gonna prevent it from being carbon frame friendly, and it's not gonna be E-bike friendly either. Something we did notice about this bike rack is when we had our bike in this first spot here, the handle bars actually made contact with the back of the windshield, just barely, so we decided to move it on to this second rack here. And this is about a 29 inch handlebar length, so if you do have any bikes that are 29 and longer, I'd keep 'em on the third, the second rack and up. Now if you have any ones that have shorter lengths, I'd say they would fit here. more

Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Dodge Durango- Video
Hi Matt here with etrailer, and today we're gonna be talking about the Kuat NV Base on the back of the 2022 Dodge Durango. Since our Kuat NV Base is a premium bike rack, it has the ability to tilt back. So all we'll have to do is press down on this lever and let it tilt back, kind of cradling the back end. Now we'll have access to our back hatch. Now keep in mind that we do have 29" handlebars, and that barely makes clearance. So if you have anything wider, I'd definitely put that on the other rack back here. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Dodge Durango- Video
Hi, Matt here with etrailer, and today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 on the 2022 Dodge Durango. This is a platform-style bike rack capable of holding two bikes, 35 pounds each, has three points of contact, one on each tire, and one in the center on the frame. What this means, is it's not gonna be e-bike friendly, because it won't be able to hold that much weight, or it won't be carbon frame friendly, because it's attached directly to the frame. A neat function with this bike rack as well, is gonna be this padded strap. So what's nice about this, is it rotates and adjusts up and down. So overall, that's gonna be really nice for if you have an alternative frame bike, it's gonna fit even kid bikes as well. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Ford Maverick SAR23MR- Video
Hi, everyone. Aidan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris MHS One-Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now it's gonna be a platform-style bike rack where the bike sits on this one long tray and it's held down primarily by a tire using this dual wheel mount design. Two-wheel hoops are gonna hold onto either tire so it doesn't make any frame contact, making this a good option for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. And it's got some secondary points of contact at the bottom. more

Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Ford Maverick- Video
Hi, everyone. Aiden here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris Freedom two bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. This is gonna be a platform style bike rack that can carry up to two bikes. It holds the bike in these two wheel cradles and primarily by our frame using a third cradle with a strap around it. So one thing about this cradle to know is that it's completely height adjustable up and down the mast independently from one another so they're not gonna interfere and it does rotate 360 degrees. more

This is gonna be a platform style bike rack that fits really well in this value category where it packs a lot of features in a really accessible price point which makes for a really good middle ground in my opinion. I recommend this to a lot of people because it can work with a lot of different bikes. It can handle 60 pounds per tray. It does attach using this front wheel hook primarily so it's gonna be carbon frame friendly and alternative frame friendly. more

And one of the nice things about the Destination here is that it works really well with kids' bikes, so it's one that I personally recommend for people looking for a family bike rack all the time. Now, some things to know about how it holds the bikes, we've got two wheel straps on the bottom that hold the bike down and in, that's gonna give it most of its stability. And then the bike is being held upright by our frame cradle here with a strapper on the frame. more

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack's Destination E-bike rack, and seeing how it fits in the back of our 2023 Hyundai Palisade. This is gonna be an excellent option for carrying your E-bikes because it has a 70 pound capacity per bike, so good for some heavier E-bikes. And one of my favorite things about this is how easy it's to operate, anywhere from the tilting to the included ramp that we'll all see in a bit. I do wanna talk about some of the bikes this we'll work with besides E-bikes because it does have a clamp that holds onto the frame up top here. It's not gonna be the best fit for carbon frame bikes, but because that clamp can move around and rotate 360 degrees, it's gonna work fine for any alternative frame bikes. more

We do have a secondary point of contact at the back wheel in the form of a wheel strap that's just gonna keep the back end of the bike down and secured. Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have Yakima OnRamp 2-Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Subaru Ascent. So, the Yakima OnRamp is definitely designed for your electric bikes. It has an included ramp attached to the bike rack. Great if you're the type of person that forgets to bring the ramp like I am and it is popular for the reasons of that ramp being able to adjust this and having a lot of versatility for how it secures the bikes. Now for the Subaru Ascent though we're gonna talk about how it fits with this vehicle. I personally think it's a great fit, especially since the height of the hitch on the Ascent makes it pretty necessary for ramps for those heavier bikes. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Hyundai Tucson- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer, and today, we have the Swagman XC 2 two bike platform rack. We'll take a look at how it fits on our 2022 Hyundai Tucson. Now, with the Swagman XC 2, it's actually really popular as a bike rack, mainly because it's an entry level rack, so entry level price, very affordable, but it gives you the stability of having a platform rack. Now, when you do use it with different vehicles, it works differently too, and the main thing here with the Tucson is with the hitch on this, I could not get this bike onto the closest tray without the pedals hitting the bumper or the door. So my clearance was very limited, so that's somethin' to be mindful. Now, if you have the smaller pedals, and we have those clip shoes, then you might be fine, but that's just somethin' to give you as a heads up. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Ascent- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Swagman XC2 two bike platform rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Subaru Ascent. So with this bike rack, it's gonna be really popular because it's a very entry level bike rack so it's affordable, but it also allows you to carry around your bikes on a platform rack rather than swinging around on a hanging rack. So if you're not interested on paying extra for features you may not need, this is something that you might consider. Now, there's definitely some downsides to that too, like you can't tilt it away, there's no locks, you have a 35 pound per bike weight capacity, things like that. So we'll talk about that, but we're gonna focus on our Subaru Ascent here to see if it'll be a right fit for your car. The very first thing I'd like to talk about is the clearance between the bike and the car. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have a Kuat Piston Pro bike rack for four bikes, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2019 Subaru Ascent. So, this is gonna be a pretty impressive bike rack. It's a large rack that's for sure, and it can carry four bikes, but it also has the Kuat at one touch pistons to make it quick and easy to load and unload those bikes. So, you just press a button and the arms swing up just like that, that's a pretty cool factor for when you're on the trails, and at the parking lot, and you're ready to grab your bikes and go. But there's some things you have to consider when you use this with the Ascent. One of the main things I've noticed with this bike rack is that the Ascent has a lot of ground clearance, the hitch sits really high off of the ground. more

So the Kuat Transfer is actually really, really popular because it has this unique goalpost design that allows you to step into the rack to load and unload your bikes. Also, it is a more entry-level bike rack, if you like a Kuat rack 'cause they're really good at making racks, but you don't wanna pay that premium price as you would for a Kuat NV, the Kuat Transfer is a great alternative. Now, for the Tucson, there are some things though that are worth considering. One is that the Transfer does not tilt down very far. more

So the Kuat Transfer is pretty popular for the reasons of it's a good premium rack without being as much of a premium price as the Kuat NV. So if you like Kuat bike racks, but you're looking for something that's maybe slightly more affordable that's where the Kuat Transfer comes in handy. Also, it has a unique goalpost design that makes it easier for you to grab your bikes and load them up as well as once it's in the compact position then you have more visibility behind your vehicle. But with how it works on the Subaru Ascent unfortunately this bike rack does not tilt down far enough away for you to fully open up your hatch door. So if that's a very important feature for you this might not be the best fit for you and I have some suggestions as alternatives if you stick around for the end of this video but first, I'll show you what I mean. more

First impression of the rack on the back of a Highlander, it's big but that's because this can carry up to three bikes. If you need to carry more, there's a four bike version available and if you need to carry less, there's a two and a one bike. So, you kind of got all your bases covered there. Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack with Ramp Review - 2020 Mazda CX-5- Video
Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2020 Mazda CX-5, we're gonna be checking out the Yakima OnRamp Platform Style Bike Rack. First impressions of the rack on the back of the Mazda, I think it's a decent fit, you know, it's relatively compact and which is good for a smaller SUV. You don't have a gigantic bike rack back here. And really, this is gonna be set up for e-bikes, so really heavy bikes and that's because it does have a ramp, a little tray that you can put on here and help get the bike on, or take it off. But that doesn't mean that you can't use it with regular-style bikes as well, so even if you just have a hard time or have a real heavy bike like this one here, it makes life a little bit easier which we'll get to in just a second. more

Confessions With A Long Term Kuat Transfer Bike Rack Owner- Video

And as far as being an installer at etrailer during the day, outside of work I'm an avid mountain biker and I've lived with the Kuat Transfer platform style bike rack on this car with this bike configuration for about two years. And there's a lot of things that I really like about it and there's a few things that maybe you don't realize until you have a little bit of ownership and you see some of the nuances. So I'm hoping to point those out and give you an inside look of long-term ownership of a Kuat Transfer. Now if you're looking at platform style bike racks I think you're already on the right path. RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Jeep Gladiator- Video
Hi everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty on the back of our 2023 Jeep Gladiator. Now, the AfterParty is going to be a pretty premium bike rack, but it has some really nice premium features to match. One thing that works really well with the Gladiator is that we actually have an integrated swing away function. So, we just go ahead and loosen this lever here, make sure that we unthread it all the way. And once we have it unthread, we just can go ahead and pull a pin here on the back allowing us to swing the whole entire bike rack away. more

Now, if I shake this frame, it's gonna wiggle a little bit, but it's pretty stable, except for our front tire. Now, if you want this to be more secure I'd recommend finding something to tie this down with, so it's not gonna wiggle as much. more

Now, couple things that that means, because it's a 40 pound weight capacity, unfortunately we're not going to be able to carry around our heavier e-bikes. Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the RockyMounts GuideRail on our 2023 Kia Telluride. Now the GuideRail is going to be a platform style bike rack, able to accommodate up to two bikes with a individual weight capacity of 60 pounds each. Our two main points of contact are going to be two rationing arms, one here on our back tire and one here on our front tire. Now, what that means altogether is we are making no frame contact, meaning we can accommodate those carbon frame bikes and those alternative frame bikes, and due to the heavy weight capacity that we have available to us we can carry around our heavier electric e-bikes. The GuideRail also is a more premium style bike rack and does come with some really cool features like the tilt away. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Kia Telluride- Video
Hey everybody, Cooper here at Etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat transfer on the back of our 2023 Kia Telluride. Now the transfer is going to be a platform style bike rack, able to accommodate up to three bikes with a individual weight capacity of 40 pounds each. There's gonna be two main points of contact per bike, the front being a wheel hook here and the back being a strap that just simply wraps around our back tire. What that all means together is while we can accommodate for those carbon frame bikes and those alternative frame bikes, unfortunately we do not have a heavy enough capacity per bike to accommodate for those heavier electric e-bikes. Now the transfer does have a very unique, almost goal shaped post design. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Toyota Camry- Video
Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we have the Swagman Current 2-Bike Platform Rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2018 Toyota Camry. Right off the bat, if you wanna carry around extra heavy electric bikes, I know your options are limited with the Camry, because you have an inch and a quarter hitch receiver. So whenever you do have to carry those heavy bikes, please double check their weight, see if you can take off the batteries, if they are removable, also, better for the battery life to do that and keep them in your car, and make sure you don't exceed your tongue weight capacity. So with that being said, the Swagman Current will help you out with carrying around those bikes. This is designed to fit in those inch and a quarter hitches, you do have some premium features here to make it easier to live with heavy bikes, one of them is gonna be it has a tilt away lever. That bright green lever, if you pull that or I guess lift it, you can drop this rack down to a tilt, and that allows you to open up the trunk. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Toyota Camry- Video
Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 bike platform rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2018 Toyota Camry. So right off the bat, we did put a hitch receiver on this Camry in order to carry around a hitch-mounted bike rack like this. It was an inch and a quarter hitch, which kind of limited our options, but even then, the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 is a great match. It's lightweight, it's affordable, and it has that nice platform rack design which gives you that extra stability. So compared to hanging racks, your bikes are gonna be a lot more stable on this rack. Now, since it is an entry level bike rack though, you do lose out on some premium features you expect with the more premium racks. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Honda CR-V- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Kuat Transfer V2 three-bike platform rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Honda CR-V. So the Transfer is unique because you can carry around multiple bikes, but it still has this open space in the middle to make it easier to load those bikes up. And if you have it folded up against the CR-V, you still have a lot of visibility in the back. So focusing on this bike rack with this car, first, we're going to tilt it away. So if you needed to open up your hatch and grab whatever you needed, what I do is I put the arms up to the side that way it can step into that goal post design, and then it's easier to hit that lever to bring the rack down. Unfortunately though, because the Transfer doesn't tilt down that much, if you did want to open up the hatch fully on the CR-V, we are not able to do so. more

Thule T2 Pro XTR 4 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Thule T2 Pro XTR four bike platform rack. We're going to take a look at how this multi bike bike rack fits our 2022 Mazda CX9. So if you're a fan of the Thule T2 Pro XTR which is their premium bike rack but you want the version that can carry around a lot of bikes, this is gonna be the one. You can take off the add-on and convert it back to a two bike platform rack or you can keep it in the four bikes configuration. Well, when you do have this many bikes though you also have more space as well as more weight that you are going to have to consider. The very first thing we're gonna do actually is we're going to take a measurement for the length that adds to the back of the Mazda CX9. more

Hey everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat Envy 2.0 on our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. Now, the Envy 2.0 is going to be a platform style bike rack able to accommodate up to two bikes with an individual weight capacity of 60 pound per bike. It does come with a tilt away feature but as we've discovered with a lot of the bike racks we have tried on our Wagoneer, it doesn't actually tilt far enough or aggressively enough for our hatch to clear our pedals and our handlebars. So, we'll give you a look at that real quick, just show you what that would look like. So, there is a handle here in the middle that we're gonna just go ahead and pull which allows us to tilt our bike rack away. more

And what those two things basically mean together is that our heavier electric E-bikes, our carbon frame bikes and our alternative frame bikes are all going to work with this platform, which is really nice that we can carry a big variety of bikes that cannot only help suit your car but also whatever bike that you have. The GuideRail does also have a tilt away feature where we're just going to pull the lever located at the bottom of the rack and then slowly tilt it down allowing us that full hatch access. more

So with your Telluride, you've got a bigger vehicle that can carry around more people. So if you have your vehicle loaded with your friends and your family and you all wanna go out for a bike ride, this might be one of the better options for you. This is a premium hanging rack, where if I have to get a hanging rack because it might take up less space, then this is the one I'd probably go with. more

So your Telluride is gonna be a big car. It's kind of nice to have a big bike rack if you are carrying around more bikes. Now, of course, if you have your car fully loaded, three won't be enough, but this is gonna be a two with an add-on if you need a mix and a match. You can also add on another two to get a four-bike platform rack if you need it. more
