Air Lift Air Helper Springs Installation - 2016 Ram 1500- Video
Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Air Lift 1000 air helper springs for our rear coil springs. Now, before we install our air bags, what we're going to do is take a few measurements with the truck unloaded. That way, we know how high it's sitting. And after we put some weight in the bed of our truck with our air bags installed, we're going to know how much to inflate them to achieve that same factory ride height. From the ground to the edge of our wheel well, that's right at 36 inches. And here at the rear from the ground to the edge of the wheel well, it's about 38 and a half inches.Now, we went ahead and put a considerable amount of weight in the bed of our truck. more

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.Com, and today you're gonna be taking a look at the Timbren rear suspension enhancement our 2015 Toyota Sienna.There's a lot of different reasons why you'd want a suspension enhancement on the back of your van. Part of the reason may be that you're towing a trailer. Once you put that heavy weight on the back, it's going to push down on the back end of the van, put a lot of strain and stress on the suspension.Not to mention anybody riding in the van is going to be extremely uncomfortable because this suspension isn't going to have enough travel. We're gonna end up bottoming out.All that feeling is going to resonate through the seats, and again, this is not going to be very comfortable. But since the back end is getting pushed down, the front end is going to rise up, which brings up a few more problems.Our tires start to wear unevenly. Our alignment is kind of off. more

I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs for the Rear Axle.These are going to be a custom fit for the 2011 through 2016 Ford F250. These are going to be standard duty bags, so they're going to be great for those applications where you're just going to be occasionally towing and hauling things down the road and you just need a little bit of extra support. The main benefit to airbags on our rear axle is that they're going to help to level out uneven loads, and also help to absorb some of the road shock whenever we're going down the road.A lot of times when you have a pretty heavy load in the back of your truck, it can cause that back end to sag down and then bring your headlights up, and that can cause some issues with your suspension as well. The front steering geometry just might get a little bit off, and overall, it just doesn't ride as well as it should when it's at a factory ride height. So this is going to help us to level that back out and get everything running smoothly again.Now, these are going to have a load leveling capacity of up to 2,000 pounds. more

Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Airlift LoadLifter 5,000 Air Helper Springs for the rear axle on our 2019 Ford F-150. Now, the need for airbags comes in when you're towing a heavy trailer, you have a heavy load in the back or anything that's going to be putting a lot of weight on the back axle of your truck. What ends up happening is we have all that weight that starts pushing down, puts a lot of strain and stress on the rear axle. Not to mention, it's going to end up causing a teetering effect, which will pull up the front end, which means our tires aren't going to be in contact as well, which means our braking and steering is going to be diminished. Plus, our headlights are going to be aiming up, potentially blinding people if you're driving at night.I'm going to go ahead and put the weight of my trailer down on my truck and we'll see how much it actually affects the back end. Now, you can see that it did lower our rear suspension just a little bit. more

Today we'll be taking a look at the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus air springs with internal bumpers. Having some air springs in your vehicle is going to help whenever you're having any kind of really heavy loads in your vehicle because they're going to help to level that out to make sure that you're not leaning to one side or the other and also lift up the back end of your vehicle so that it rides nice and level again.Some issues that can arise whenever you have a heavy load weighing down the back of your vehicle will be again that it's pushing that back end down, bringing the front end up. That can cause your steering geometry to be a little bit off. You're not getting the same sort of control that you normally do and it can also cause some premature wear on all the suspension components for the rear. So, this is going to help to alleviate those problems and make your ride much more enjoyable since they're also going to provide some cushioning to that ride as you're going over any bumps in the road and things like that. Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Installation - 2016 Honda Odyssey- Video
Rob here etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Timbren rear suspension enhancement on our 2016 Honda Odyssey. Now rear suspension enhancements are going to come into play whenever you have a lot of cargo in the back or you're towing a trailer that's going to make the back end sag. Once you put all that weight in the back, it does cause the back end to push down. As you can see in the back here at the wheel well, it's actually getting really close to the tire, which means we're not going to have a lot of travel for our suspension, giving us a really rough ride and it's putting a lot of strain back here. But if we move to the front, we can see that it's actually pulling the front up, causing that teetering effect. Now what that's going to do is that's going to wear down our tires unevenly because our tires are going to get out of alignment.Not to mention our headlights are going to be pointing up, so potentially blinding people who are driving down the road, and our braking is going to be diminished because we don't have as much pressure on our contact on the front tires. more

Today on our 2015 Ford F53, this is the Tiffin Allegro, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs. These are for the rear axle and offer a 5,600 pound capacity. Part number is SSR-183-54-1. Here's what our spring looks like once we get it installed. As you can see, it's going to ride right on top of that leaf spring and it's active at all times, so this is going to give us very light support, just slightly firm up our ride, slightly give us a little bit more side to side stability. Where it's really going to shine is when we start doing that cornering stuff for that side to side. more

Hi there Reyo owners. Today on your 2013 Reyo motor home, we're going to be installing SumoSprings solo custom helper springs for the rear axle, and this is what our SumoSprings look like when they're installed.They replace our factory jounce bumper and installing the exact same location. Here you can see our factory jounce bumper side by side with our new SumoSpring jounce bumper, and you'll instantly notice that the SumoSpring is considerably larger.Another thing you'll notice is that when you remove this jounce bumper, the jounce bumper wasn't touching the axle below it. There was a gap between us. Our new SumoSpring is touching the axle and the frame above it, constantly providing some support; whereas our factory jounce bumper for only provided support once the suspension has reached its maximum travel and got all the way up. This typically results in a "thud" and a feel on the inside that's uncomfortable.SumoSpring gradually compresses itself to offer that load carrying capacity throughout the suspension travel. more

They replace our factory jounce bumpers and sit in the exact same location. The difference between this and your factory jounce bumper is that your factory jounce bumpers don't provide any contact between your axle and the bumper itself until the suspension has traveled up far enough to contact the bumper. You can see your factory jounce bumper here, and how much shorter it is than our SumoSpring.Our SumoSpring is always going to be in contact with our axle, and it is a softer rubber than the hard factory jounce bumper we have. What's nice about this is that as it compresses, the rubber gets harder the more it compresses, and it slowly eases you into a jounce situation like this. more

Since they are top-heavy, they tend to blow around on the road and sway a lot and what the Sumo Springs are going to do, they're going to help eliminate that body roll and that sway while you're going down the road. They're going to improve our ride quality by overall helping support our suspension.Now before we put our springs on, let's go ahead and take our motor home out and see how it handles. As we go over our bumps, can really feel the motor home just getting thrown around, everything's jarring, and I just don't have as much control of the steering wheel as I would like. more

Review of Timbren Vehicle Suspension - Front Axle Suspension Enhancement - TSTFL8500- Video
Today we'll be taking a look at the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System for the Front Axle.By having these springs in your vehicle it's going to help to take out some of that typical overloaded feeling that we get whenever we have our vehicle loaded down with a lot of weight. Helps to compensate for any off-center loads. They work independently, so you don't have to worry about one side being heavier than the other, it'll help to balance that since as these springs get more pressure on them, they get progressively stiffer to provide more force pushing back up.So they're going to cushion our ride, help it to stay more level and also act as shock absorbers, taking a lot of the bumps and rough road feeling that we get a lot of times, again, whenever we have our vehicle loaded down pretty heavily.That's also going to help to extend the life of our other OEM suspension components since now we're spreading that weight out over another component. And it's going to help to take a little bit of the load from those things.We get our two brackets and two hollow springs to take the brunt of that load. Now this install does require some drilling to get those brackets mounted up on the frame. We'll have two holes on either side that we need to get drilled through to allow this to mount.Comes with all the hardware that you see here. more

Today we're going to take a look at the Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs for the Rear Axle. Now, our air springs are going to do a great job in eliminating a lot of the typical problems that we'll get whenever we have our vehicle loaded down.These are going to be a custom fit for the 2010 through 2013 Ford Transit Connect cargo van, and the Connect passenger van.A lot of times whenever you have that van loaded down, you'll start to experience body roll, which is where the vehicle starts to feel like it's really swaying, especially as you're going around corners, changing lanes. It feels like that top half of the vehicle just wants to tip over, and it can really feel uncomfortable and unsafe.This is going to create an additional connection point between our frame and our axle, and provide some stiffness to that to make it much more comfortable and more stable. It's also going to help to absorb some of the typical road shock that we experience. When you're going over rough pavement, you can feel that jarring motion going over bumps. These are going to help to cushion that and make our rider overall more enjoyable.The other thing that's great about these is that they're going to help our OEM suspension just last a little bit longer, since now we're spreading out that weight over another component. more

Review of Air Lift Vehicle Suspension - Rear Axle Suspension Enhancement - AL57397- Video
Today we'll be taking a look at the Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 Air Helper Springs for the rear axle. These are going to be a custom fit for your 2005 through 2010 Ford F-250 and 350 Super Duty. This is going to fit for the two-wheel drive version. If you have a four-wheel drive that's actually going to be a different part number and that is AL57398 for that four-wheel drive.These are also specifically designed to work with your gooseneck and fifth wheel installation kits. That hole up at the top allows you to mount this into the bracket using the hardware for your fifth wheel so you won't have to worry about any issues there. They mount inside the frame, away from our wheels so it shouldn't cause any interference between the wheels or our fifth wheel or gooseneck.And overall air springs are going to do a lot of benefits for us. more

Because whether you've been driving for a little bit or for a long time, you realize real quickly that motor homes are real top-heavy. They don't handle all that well, and we end up fighting the steering wheel and just kind of have a nervous feeling when we're driving.Well, and that's partially because the suspension isn't really all that tight, and it ends up having a lot of mushy feeling to it. Our SumoSprings in the back are going to help support all that extra weight, because typically you'll have a bedroom or a bathroom towards the back, and that's a lot of weight to put on the rear axle, not to mention if you're flat-towing a car with you so you can enjoy the campground, go out to dinner or anything else. Air Lift LoadLifter Air Helper Springs Installation - 2013 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty- Video
Hi there, Ford owners. Today on your 2013 Ford F250, we're going to be installing Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 air helper springs.And this is what our airbags look like when they're installed. It's going to sit between the frame of the vehicle and it's going to rest on top of the jounce bumper plate, located right above our axle.Each airbag has its own independent air line going through it, so they can be aired up independently. This is nice if you need to adjust for any uneven loads that may be placed in the back of your vehicle.Each airbag will operate between 5-100 psi. Five is typically used when the vehicle's unloaded. You don't ever want to run it all the way empty, so five pounds is your minimum. more

Whether we're driving down the highway and a truck passes us or there's a big gust of wind, we end up sitting there fighting the steering wheel, getting pushed around, not to mention everybody in the back's not having that good a time because they're getting pushed around as well.So before we put any suspension components on our motor home, let's take it on our test course and see how it handles.As I come up to the slalom course, I'm going in and out of turns, I can definitely feel a lot of body roll. As soon as I go into the turn, it really feels like the motor home wants to lean really hard before it even actually turns.Now that we have our suspension components installed, let's take our motor home back out on the test course and see how it improved the ride.As I come up to the slalom course, I can immediately feel a big difference. Don't get me wrong, there's still a little bit of a sway to it, but it's a lot more controlled and it is diminished a lot. I feel a lot more in control of the motor home, and it genuinely feels a lot smaller than it really is.Here's what our SumoSprings are going to look like once we have them installed. more

It's a double-convoluted design, which has a higher burst pressure than your traditional design. The airbags sit between the frame and your axle to help provide load-leveling support. What's nice about airbags that sets them apart from other suspension enhancements such as Timbrens is the fact that it's adjustable. You can increase or decrease the pressure depending on the load you have to get the most optimal ride and braking and handling performance.There is some maintenance required. Air pressures will fluctuate with humidity and temperature, so you may have to adjust your airbags from time to time if you don't load very often to maintain the pressure.It's a no-drill installation. more
