So this rack can hold up to a total of four bikes and right away, the first thing I noticed is where the rack is going to hold the bike in relation to our Highlander's back window. And to me, it's right there in that sweet spot. Whenever you're looking out of the rear view, you can still kind of keep an eye on your bikes, but they're not going to sit up so high that they're really going to block or affect your vision.So the way the rack works is really simple, and that's one of the things I like about it. Now, something that's really cool about this setup is if we need to get inside of our trunk, even when we're carrying our bikes on the rack, we're still able to do so. And that's usually not the case for a lot of different racks. And even though we can access the trunk, but the rack here in the upright position, it could be a little challenging with this and the way to get heavy or real big objects in and out of the back of our Camry.But what we can do to make it easier is fold the rack down. more

Rob: Hey, everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're to be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro hanging style bike rack on our 2017 Toyota Highlander. Our Hitching Post Pro allows us to take up to four bikes with us, if we want to hit the trail with some family or some friends, maybe just taking a day trip to the park. But a hitch mounted bike rack is going to be one of the easiest ways, I think, to carry up to four bikes with you. It definitely beats cramming your bikes into the back hatch of your Highlander, and for me personally, it definitely beats a roof rack because I'm a little bit on the shorter side and I don't want to have to lift my bike up over my head to get it onto the bike rack on a roof. So a hitch mounted bike rack just makes it a lot easier to use.Now it is a hanging style bike rack, so we're going to have three points of contact. more

Now, I really liked this rack mainly because of how it's designed. It's going to have two wheel hoops so there's no frame contact. So, it's extremely good for those carbon bikes where you don't want that frame contact, you don't want to have anything scratching the paint job or anything like that.But the other thing I like about it is, is once you get two bikes on here a lot of times we end up with interference. You can see the handlebars here are already coming into the space where this second bike trailers but the nice part about it is we have our two wheel hoops, we can loosen them up. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com. Today we have our 2019 Toyota RAV4 and we're test fitting the Kuat Transfer Two bike platform rack. This is designed for one and a quarter inch and two inch trailer hitch receivers and it's a great way to get up to two bikes our favorite destination. Benefit of having a hitch mount rack like this is that we don't have to try to load our bikes up on top of our vehicle or fit it into the rear hatch area. This vehicle has a smaller rear hatch and so we would have to lower some of the seats in the second row to fit a bike this size in it. So this is a great way to still utilize our entire rear hatch and still get our bikes to where we're going.This bike rack has a 45 pound per bike weight capacity. more

Today we have our 2019 Toyota RAV4, and when you're test fitting the Hollywood Racks TRS Platform by Crack, this is designed for two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. And we use this to get our bikes to our favorite destination, without loading up on top of our vehicle or trying to fit it into the trunk area.The trunk here is a decent size, but in order to fit a bike like this into the back, we would have to fold the seats down. So maybe if we are at full capacity with how many people we're traveling with, we can load it here. Plus it is a little difficult to load bikes on top of a vehicle. Sometimes we've been testing racks on this and I was having a little bit of trouble getting it up and down. more

John: Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com and today on our 2019 Toyota Tacoma we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 base bike rack. This is designed for two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers and it can carry up to two bikes weighing 60 pounds each. This is a great way to transport your bikes to your favorite destination while freeing up the space here in your bed. One thing that I always think when I see a pickup with a bike rack is why don't you just toss them in the bed, but if you're carrying maybe a cooler or some other cargo or perhaps you have a nice bike that you don't want to make frame contact with, this is a great solution for that.As you can see, it has a ratcheting arm and a ratcheting strap, so there's no frame contact at all, to get your bikes, maybe with a sensitive frame or a nice paint job to your destination safely. Few specs on this bike rack, the trace here can accommodate up to 4.8 inch wide tires and a max wheel base of 48 inches, the wheel base is from the center of one axle to the center of the other. As far as wheel diameter goes, 25 inch to 29 inches, but we do have an adapter here at etrailer.com that can accommodate 20 to 24 inch wheel diameters if you have a smaller wheel.One of the highlights of this bike rack I really like, is the integrated cable lock. more

Now, this rack does hold up to a total of two bikes, however, if you're looking to carry more, there's also a three bike version available as well. Now, one of the best parts about this rack is that it's made from aluminum. So not only is it going to be extremely lightweight and easy to handle, but we're not going to have to worry about any rust or corrosion issues either. A really common question we get in regards to these hitch mounted bike racks, is if you're still going to be able to have full access to your trunk or this one on the back of the Camry, even in the upright position, we're still going to have no problem opening up our trunk and getting all of our stuff in and out.Now, if he has something really large or awkward that you're trying to put in or take out, you can still free up some space because this does fold down, and if you come down here and pull up on this lever, and swing it out of the way, and now we shouldn't have any issues at all getting all of our stuff in and out. more

Now the unique feature about the Swagman dispatch is that it's also approved for use on RVs and campers. So if you've got an RV in the family, go ahead and put it on the back of that as well. Or if you're hauling a camper, say a pop-up camper behind your RAV4, go ahead and stick this on the back of that pop-up camper. It secures your bike into place at three locations, the straps for each wheel that hold them into the included wheel cradles. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4 TH9042PRO- Video

Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2017 Toyota Rav4, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium Pro 2 bike rack. This rack can hold up to a total of two bikes, but if you need to carry an additional one, there's also a three bike version available as well. Now, one of the main questions we get in regards to hitch style bike racks is if you're still going to be able to have full access to your trunk or hatch. Well, since this one does fold away, by pulling the lever up and tilting it back. We're going to have more than enough room to get all of our gear in and out.Probably my favorite thing about the rack is how lightweight it is. more

Now this can hold up to a total of up to four bikes, but if you don't need to carry that many, there's also a two bike version available as well. One of the main questions our customers ask us in regards to hitch mounted bike racks is if they're still going to have full access to their hatch. Well, this one does fold down out of the way, so we will. Come down here to the lever, pull up on it.We can just push it down, and this will give us plenty of space to get all of our gear and equipment in and out. more

Rola Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video

Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2017 Toyota RAV4, we're going to be taking a look at the Rola TX-102 bike rack. Now, one of the many questions we get here in regards to hitch-mounted bike racks is if you're still going to be able to have full access to your hatch. Well, this one does fold down to allow that, and to do that, if we come down here to this pin, all we have to do is pull it out.And I do want to point out, whenever you pull this pin out, there's going to be nothing stopping this rack from going forward. So to avoid potentially damaging or scratching your hatch, you want to make sure you have a hand on it. We pull the pin out, and we're able to just set it down, and now we're going to have more than enough room to get all of our stuff in and out of our hatch.Now, one thing I do really like is where our bike is going to hang. more

Rola Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Toyota Camry- Video

Ryan: How's it going, everybody Ryan here etrailer.com. Today on our 2018 Toyota Camry we're going to be taking a look at the Rola TX102 bike rack. Now this can hold a total of up to two bikes, and the bikes that it is holding, it's going to hold them down in three spots. We're going to have two straps here along our top two. We're also going to have a strap down here, which is an anti sway strap, and that'll help eliminate side to side movement preventing any bike to bike or bike direct contact. Now one feature I thought was pretty neat is that it's going to have an integrated lock, so when our bikes are in place this will simply pull out, we'll loop it around the frame and clip it onto the arm. more

However, if you're needing to carry an extra one, there's also a three bike version available, as well.Now, one of my favorite things about this rack is that we're still able to completely open our trunk without having to fold our rack out of the way. And that's really convenient, because if you do fold your rack down, you're going to have to make sure to take your bikes off. That's why when we load our bikes up, we still have no problem getting our gear in and out.It's going to be extremely easy to handle, and since it's compact, if we need to ever pull it out of the hitch to make room for a cargo carrier or something else, we're going to have no problem fitting it into the back of our trunk.The rack is going to hold our bike down in three spots. more

All you have to do is push this little lever down, and that's going to allow you to have all access to the back of your RAV4. So you can grab a book bag, maybe a helmet, a lunch or two. Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Toyota Highlander TS02B- Video

Hi, there, Highlander owners. Today on our 2019 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be taking a look at Kuat's transfer platform bike rack. This is available in either a two- or three-bike rack version, in either black or gray.This bike rack is a platform-style bike rack, which is going to be ideal, particularly if you have carbon fiber bikes, due to the way it mounts to the rack. This is going to hold it in place with the hook here in the front, clamping your front tire down inside the cradle, and then the smaller cradle here in the back holds your rear tire using the cam buckle strap.The step-through design of this bike rack makes it easier to remove your bike. Once you've got the first bike rack off, if you're only carrying the one, you can just move this arm out of the way and you can get right up in there inside of the bike rack to more easily pick up your bike and set it aside.
