Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2022 GMC Sierra 1500- Video

How's it going everybody It's Ethan here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack on the back of our 2022 GMC Sierra. So, this is a bike rack that you're gonna wanna use if you do have heavier bikes like e-bikes, because it does support up to 70 pounds per bike. Additionally, it does come with a ramp, that we'll get into just a little bit later, to help you get the get the bike off of the rack itself. Now, it holds our bike primarily on the frame through these padded clamps. So in the event that you're using a carbon frame bike, or an alternative frame style bike, specifically carbon frame, we don't recommend these types of racks, because it does make that frame contact and could potentially damage your frame while it's moving. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Tesla Model 3- Video

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we'll be taking a look at how the Kuat Piston Pro X fits on the 2018 Tesla Model 3. So this hitch was just recently installed on the Model 3, so that they can carry around some bike racks. Now, the Kuat Piston Pro X is an awesome bike rack, because of how you have the weight capacity, you are able to use the pistons, it has a fancy-schmancy way of opening up to load the bikes on and off and take them right back off. So very quick, very easy process, but also, it's a premium bike rack with premium features. So the first thing we'll take a look at, this is how it looks when you have it all folded up, you're able to open up your trunk if needed, you're not hitting that bike rack. If you do have the wiring added to your Tesla Model 3, you will be able to take advantage of the wiring on the bike rack. more

So this bike rack is unique in that it's an affordable rack but also lightweight and compact but can still carry around four bikes. So if you're looking for something easy to maneuver and install onto your Tesla Model 3, this might be an option for you. It does have some downsides though like it's not able to tilt away and you don't have a great weight capacity. So if you have E-bikes, not gonna be the best fit. How's it going, everyone It's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro Four Bike Rack on the back of our 2016 Honda Pilot. This is a hanging-style bike rack. It is going to be holding the bike primarily by the top of the frame and by this anti-sway clip in the back here. So if you do have carbon frame bikes, or alternative frame bikes, you might want, or you definitely don't wanna use carbon frame bikes, but if you have an alternative frame bike, you may need a bike adapter bar. This bike rack is capable of supporting 35 pounds per bike or 140 pounds total. more

Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris Freedom Platform Bike Rack on our 2022 Jeep Cherokee. Now, like I said, this is a platform style bike rack so it's gonna hold the bike in these wheel cradles and by our frame. So we've got this cradle with a strap run around the frame up top, that's gonna be keeping it held upright and then we've got wheels strapped down in each cradle to help hold it down in the cradles. How's it going, everyone It's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts GuideRail on our 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The GuideRail is a two-bike platform style bike rack, capable of supporting two bikes up to 60 pounds each, held primarily by these dual wheel mounts up either side, which is nice 'cause it avoids any framed contact, so if you we're using a carbon frame bike or an alternative frame style bike, that would be good in this case. One thing I like about this rack is that it does have a pretty aggressive tilt. So as far as any of the racks we tested today, this is the one that tilts the furthest away that I've seen and it gives us plenty of clearance to get into our cargo area in the back of our car, and plenty of room back here in the event that you wanna take a seat after your ride, change your shoes or get something out of the back. So tilting our bike rack back up, you'll hear a click and that's how you know it's in place. more

Yakima StageTwo 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe- Video

How's it going everyone It's Ethan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima StageTwo platform-style bike rack on our 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. As I mentioned, it is a platform-style bike rack capable of supporting up to 70 pounds per bike, holding our bike predominantly by this wheel hook here and an additional strap on the back tire. It's nice that our rack holds onto our bike using this wheel hook, because that means there's no frame contact with our bike itself, so in the event that you're using a carbon frame bike or an alternative frame bike, it doesn't make any contact with the frame, so it won't damage your frame while you're driving. Another nice feature are the integrated cable locks right in the top of the hook here, so you can just wrap it around the frame of your bike and connect it right here on the front there to keep everything secure. Another great feature that this rack offers is the ability to tilt it away, holding onto the rack itself, pulling that black lever down there at the bottom, gives us plenty of clearance. more

The SuperClamp is a platform-style bike rack that holds the bike in these wheel cradles, has some wheel straps there as secondary points of contact, and primarily holds the bike upright using two wheel hooks. It has zero frame contacts, it's gonna be good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, it's gonna be able to handle some e-bikes too. The RidgeBack is a hanging-style bike rack that can carry up to four bikes. Because it's a hanging rack, we do probably wanna avoid carbon frame bikes because hanging by the frame can damage it. With alternative frame bikes and kids bikes, we're gonna wanna make sure we get a bike adapter bar to make sure that the bike either hangs level or in the case of the kids' bikes, make sure that it fits over this dual-arm design. Now, this is gonna be a platform rack like I mentioned before. It's gonna hold the bike in these cradles, there's two wheel cradles and a front wheel hook, that's gonna be a thing that primarily holds the bike upright, and then there's a back wheel strap as a secondary point of contact. That means there's gonna be zero frame contact, so for our carbon frame bike we're using today, it's gonna be just fine, it's also gonna work really well with alternative frames. One thing you do wanna keep in mind though with this version of the rack is that it's not the best choice for e-bikes, it only has a 40 pound capacity per bike, so it is something to kinda be mindful of. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro and seeing how it fits on our 2022 Ford Maverick. This is gonna be a hanging style bike rack that holds the bike up here by the frame hanging down below it. We've got two rubber straps over top the frame, keeping it down into our deep cradles as well as a third one around the seat post limiting our side to side movement. That's gonna help with bike to bike contact. And although it doesn't eliminate the movement it does help quite a bit, and because of those deeper cradles, it does eliminate a lot more movement than some other hanging style racks do. more

To get this bike rack installed, we've got to get it into the hitch first. It will fit in a two inch by two inch or an inch and a quarter receiver tube. We've got our two inch receiver tube today and it uses the included adapter sleeve. Now on the front mast of the bike rack there is a black lever that I can pull to release the shank and actually fold it out and it'll lock in place. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Toyota Prius v- Video

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at how the Saris SuperClamp EX two bike platform rack fits on the 2014 Toyota Prius V. So the SuperClamp EX is very versatile because you have an 1 1/4" shank as well as a included 2" hitch adapter. With a 60 pound weight capacity per bike whether you have your light bikes or your heavier bikes, it can work with them. Now there's some downsides to this too which it does take a little bit more extra effort to get things lined up. With that 2" hitch adapter, I cannot use the hitch pin alignment collar so I'm gonna have to do this manually every time I play it into my hitch. So now that hitch pin hole on the bike rack is aligned with the hitch pin hole on the vehicle. more

How's it going everyone Ethan at etrailer here today to talk to you about the RockyMounts MonoRail on our 2022 Toyota RAV4. The RockyMounts MonoRail is a two-bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bikes right here with the wheel hook, and another point of contact right down here with this wheel strap. So because it holds the bike by the wheel rather than the frame, it's gonna be a good bike rack for your carbon fiber bikes or your alternative style bikes because there won't be any frame contact like I mentioned before. And it supports up to 60 pounds per bike, so it should be fine for any of your higher range mountain bikes. Another thing I like about this bike rack is that if you come down here and pull this blue lever, it allows you to tilt the bike rack towards you and in doing so you can actually come around and access the cargo area. Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Toyota RAV4- Video

How's it going everyone It's Ethan at etrailer here, today taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination on our 2022 Toyota RAV4. How this rack's actually gonna hold onto our bike is by using these padded rotating cradles that also have a zip strip on the end of them, they rotate 360 degrees, and they can support alternative frames, but if you we're to have a carbon frame bike, it's something you probably wanna avoid. Our bike is then held on by two secondary points of contact at the bottom here, these straps, one goes through the front, one goes through the back. The bike rack itself doesn't tilt away, which is something you're gonna wanna keep in mind, but we'll go ahead and show you how the bike comes off. So you're gonna go ahead and release this back strap first, come around to the front side, release this other strap. And this is where it can get a little bit tricky with this one, because you're gonna have to hold the bike while you manipulate this, and for our mountain bike here, it's actually going through the cup holder, so it's something to keep in mind, is that it might not be the perfect fit for all of your bikes, but if you just bear with me, should come out eventually, there we go. more

The Yakima FullTilt Bike Rack is gonna be a hanging style bike rack as you can see, and it can carry up to five bikes, which makes it a fantastic option for the Ford Escape. Now, let's take a look at how it fits on there. From directly behind the Escape, looking at how the rack fits on here, you can see that your back windshield is gonna be pretty much obstructed, especially when you do load all the way up to five bikes on here. Your backup camera and your license plate will have reduced visibility, your third brake light from your cowling should still be visible to the drivers behind you, but with five bikes on here, again, with the tires hanging off to both sides, your taillights will be obstructed. more

Right out the gate, the big things to note for this bike rack are you gonna have a 35-pound weight capacity per cradle. It's not gonna be compatible with Class I hitches for the inch and a quarter. It's only gonna work with the Class II and it's gonna have the frame hook to hold it down inside of the wheel hoops, which is gonna make it incompatible with carbon frame bikes. Taking a look at how the rack sits on the back of the Escape here today, you can see that your back windshield is gonna have most of its visibility retained. more

The hooks on here are very nice, because they do have such a thick padding. However, because they are hooks that clamp down on the frame, they will make it incompatible with any carbon frame bikes you may have. Looking at how the rack sits on here with a bike loaded up, we can see that our third brake light cowling is still fairly visible to any drivers behind us. more

Thule Helium 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video

Howdy everyone, John here and today we're taking a look at the Thule Helium on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is gonna be a great wheel tire hold for your lighter bikes. So let's take a closer look. It's able to hold by the wheels, so any of your odd shaped frame or your carbon frames are gonna be perfect for this. And in my opinion, whenever it comes to handles for these arms, this is probably one of the best for the wheel hold type. It's going to be a little bit goofy to push down, but overall, once you get it, it's much easier to work with this than some others, like the Inno Tire Hold, which has it down here, so you have to hold onto the arms as you push forward and press the button at the same time. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Nissan Pathfinder- Video

Hi everyone, Aidan here with trailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on the back of our 2019 Nissan Pathfinder. The OnRamp is gonna be a platform style bike rack that holds the bike in these trays and by our frame. We have this cradle with a strap run around the frame to hold it upright and then two straps on the bottom that pull the bike down and in at an angle and that results in a really strong hold overall. This bike rack is designed to be used with e-bikes, has an included ramp that stores right on the bike rack and a 66 pound weight capacity so it's gonna be good for some of those heavier e-bikes. With it making frame contact, you do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes because it can damage the frame but alternative frame should be just fine. more
