RockyMounts GuideRail 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Hey, everybody. Cooper here from etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at our RockyMount GuideRail on our 2023 Subaru Outback. Our bike rack's going to be a platform style bike rack, individually weighted for 60 pounds each per bike, and as you'll be able to notice too, is a frameless contact support, so it's going to be really great for those carbon frame bikes, alternative frame bikes, as well as our e-bikes, too. Now obviously, with our bikes loaded, we're not gonna have access into our trunk, so if we actually pull this lever down here, it's going to allow us to tilt our bike away from our vehicle, allowing us pull access into our trunk. Now, whether we have our water, our helmet, our shoes back here, this allows me a lot more space in to just be able to grab my items, whatever I need before I start, or at the end of our journey. Now, in order to get our bike rack back up, we just actually go ahead and grab it and lift up until we hear that clip noise. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

So for this bike rack, it is really popular, because of its versatility where you get the premium features like tilt away and the 60 pound per bike weight capacity at a slightly more affordable price than the other premium bike racks. It's still a solid bike rack though, and I recommend it almost every single time. With the Highlander, there are some things to consider, like the Highlander's hitch does sit a little bit higher up, so you are having to lift your bikes a bit more to get them onto the rack. Now, it does have some downsides like its premium price as well as it is a hefty bike rack, so we'll talk about that, but we're gonna focus on our Highlander. Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Dodge Durango- Video

How's it going everyone Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Hitch Bike Rack and we're gonna see how it fits on our 2021 Dodge Durango. It's gonna be a great entry level way to get up to four bikes where you need 'em to go. The Destination 4 will be a platform style bike rack which means it's gonna hold our bike up by the tires here down at the bottom and it's capable of supporting four bikes up to 35 pounds a piece. Primarily gonna hold onto them with this rotating padded clamp here on our center mast. So it does make frame contact and we recommend not using this with carbon frame bikes. It could potentially damage them while we're driving but because we can slide up and down that center mast a little bit and the pads do rotate 180 degrees, then we should be able to accommodate a bunch of different alternative frame style bikes We also have our secondary points of contact being the straps down, one at the front and one at the back wheel. more

So the RockyMounts AfterParty is very similar to the RockyMounts GuideRail where you have a dual wheel mount bike rack. The thing that's special, though, with the AfterParty is it swings away, and that gives you full access to the back of your vehicle if you want to set up a campsite, open up the hatch, things like that. Now, with the CR-V, I personally would actually recommend just sticking with the RockyMounts GuideRail, and that's just because you can still tilt away both bike racks. So if you don't need that full hatch clearance, you'll still be able to open up your hatch with the bikes rack, bikes on without having to swing the entire bike rack away. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro and seeing how it fits on our 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. This is gonna be a hanging style bike rack that holds the bike by the frame hanging below the rest of the rack. Two points of contact up top are gonna keep it in place with the cradles and rubber straps. And then we've got a third one around the seat post here limiting our side to side movement as our anti-sway cradle. Now with the hanging style bike rack there are gonna be some limitations. more

This is gonna be a platform style bike rack, and a really good entry level platform rack in my opinion. This one's going to get you started carrying a good range of different styles of bikes. Really, we wanna avoid carbon frame bikes because it does make frame contact with the bike, but alternative frame, and kids' bikes are gonna work really well for this rack. more

CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Chrysler Pacifica- Video

Hi, everyone. Aidan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the CURT Premium four-bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. This is going to be a hanging style bike rack, holding the bike by the frame and letting the rest of the rack, or the bike hang down below the rack. There's two main points of contact holding it in place, these two straps on the top holding it down into the cradles, and the third one on the side here as an anti-sway cradle just to help limit the side to side movement and bike to bike contact. They do make a five-bike version of this that has a slightly boosted weight capacity. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Ford F-150 HLY84FR- Video

How's it going everybody Today, we are going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack Sport Rider SE Hitch Bike Rack, and looking how it fits on our 2021 Ford F-150. This is going to be a two-bike platform style rack, capable of supporting up to 80 pounds per bike which is a lot for a hitch bike rack. So, you can definitely get a couple of E-bikes on here if you'd like to. But we do have a primary contact point of this frame hook here in the middle on our center mast. So, if you wanna use this with your carbon frame bikes I'd recommend against it because we do make frame contact. Although they are padded, we are still pushing down and could potentially damage our frames while we're moving. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Ford F-150 HLY66ZR- Video

How's it going everybody Today we are going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E hitch bike rack and how it fits on our 2021 Ford F-150. The Destination E is going to be designed for e-bikes at buying. It has a weight capacity of 70 pounds per bike. It's gonna hold it up primarily with these trays and cradles down here on the bottom. And our primary point of contact is going to be these rotated padded jaws here on our center mast which is going to hold our bike securely. But because it does make frame contact we'd recommend not using this with carbon frame bikes but because it is able to rotate so much, it should work for a lot of your alternative frame style bikes. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Ford Maverick- Video

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2-Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. This is gonna be a platform-style bike rack, holding the bike in these wheel cradles and primarily by our front tire. That's gonna be the thing that keeps our bike upright, and for the most part, holds it in place. It doesn't make any frame contact with the bike, so it makes it a great option for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and with the 60 pound weight capacity per bike, it can handle some e-bikes too. Now, like many other kinda higher end platform racks, this does have the ability to tilt away with the bikes loaded. more

Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack Review - 2022 GMC Sierra 1500- Video

Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima RidgeBack Hitch Bike Rack and how it fits on our 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The RidgeBack is gonna be a hanging-style bike rack, which means it holds onto our bikes primarily with the top tube right here, and it's got one anti-sway cradle here in the back, which helps keep some of that movement out of the case, but as with most hanging-style bike racks, you're gonna get a little bit of that back and forth movement. And you'll notice here that this front tire is free swinging, so I definitely recommend picking up some sort of stabilizing strap to keep that in place. But it does have the ability to hold four bikes up to 40 pounds a piece. Got a couple cool features that we'll check out throughout the video, so let's get to it. more

The Tire Hold is a two-bike platform-style bike rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 60 pounds a piece. It's gonna hold on to them with this dual wheel mount design, so one of these hoops on either side is gonna hold onto one of either tire. That's the only way that it's gonna hold on, so it doesn't make any frame contact. If you want to get your carbon frame bikes or alternative frame bikes on here, you can, if you have an e-bike that's gonna come in at that less than 60 pound weight capacity, that will fit too. more

So the Yakima OnRamp is really popular for people that have electric bikes or heavier bikes and the motor home or an RV because it has a ramp included with a rack. So there's a lot of great perks to it. In fact, I got this for my relatives for their fifth wheel, but there's some downsides as well, like for the Discovery motor home the hitch is pretty recessed, so you have limited clearance. more

How's it going, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Right now we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts GuideRail hitch bike rack and how it fits on our 2021 Honda CR-V. This is going to be a two-bike platform style rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 60 pounds. It's gonna hold on to our bikes with this dual wheel mount design, so one hoop on the back, one hoop on the front tire, which is nice if you want to accommodate different wheel bases and make sure that your bikes aren't making contact with one another while you're driving. Also, because there's no frame contact, you can get your carbon frame bikes on here, alternative frame bikes, and you can get some e-bikes on here as long as they have less than a three-inch or less tire width. So this does have a lot of cool features and things that we're gonna check out, but the first one is going to be the fact that we do have the ability to tilt away with the bikes loaded up. more
