EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver Installation - 2018 Toyota Prius

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2018 Toyota Prius. Now this is what your hitch is gonna look like when it's installed on your Prius and it is a hidden cross tube. This one bolts up behind the bumper beam so you got a nice clean look and the only thing that's gonna be visible from outside of the vehicle is gonna be the 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening and also the plate style safety chain loops. And that's something that's interesting about this hitch. This car generally has 1-1/4 of a Class 1 hitch so the availability for a 2 inch is really nice. Now you're not really gonna get a ton of different capacities as far as trying to tow more or haul more, but having a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening opens up the window to a bunch of different bike racks and cargo carriers that you might previously be limited with an 1-1/4. more

Best 2018 Toyota Prius Trailer Hitch Options

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Toyota Prius, we'll be having a look at our best trailer hitch options. We have two hitches here today that fit the Prius. On the top we have a Draw-Tite Class 1 trailer hitch receiver, and then on the bottom we have a CURT Class 1 trailer hitch receiver. First we'll give you a brief summary about the differences between our hitches. In regards to appearance, we found that the CURT hitch here, with our personal opinion, is the better looking hitch here, so we'll give that one a win. As far as recreational use goes, we found that the Draw-Tite hitch has a slight advantage over the CURT hitch because there is no recommendation for use of a safety strap if you're using it for a non-trailer application. Now in my personal opinion, if I personally owned a Prius, I'd be leaning towards the CURT hitch myself because I feel that it looks the best on the vehicle. The color gives it a nice finished look and doesn't take away from any of the attractive, stylish lines on the back of the vehicle. The first difference that we found between our two hitches is in regards to appearance. more

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Toyota Prius

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Toyota Prius, we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Curt class one trailer hitch receiver, part number C11473. This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. You can see the cross tube is completely hidden behind the bumper fascia. The only thing you can see is the receiver tube, and it sits nice and flush with the edge of the bumper fascia so you don't have to worry about hitting your legs or your shins on it when loading and unloading the back of the vehicle. This is gonna be a class one hitch. It's gonna be an inch and a quarter by an inch and a quarter. more

Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Toyota Prius- Video

Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Toyota Prius

Speaker 1: Here on this 2018 Toyota Prius, we'll be having a look at, and showing you how to install the draw-tite class one trailer hitch receiver, part number 24966.Here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you'll notice, our hitch is completely hidden behind our rear fascia. The only part you see hanging down is the actual receiver itself. You'll notice our receiver actually sticks out past our facial a little bit, but not too much. This makes this a great hitch for bike racks and cargo carriers, which is what many of our customers find themselves using with this hitch. On the side of our receiver, you'll find our industry standard half inch diameter hitch pin hole to secure your hitch mounted accessories. You can pick up a pin and clip separately, that's part number PC2 on our website.Welded onto the bottom of our receiver are rolled steel safety chain loops. Now what's great about these, even though this is a class one hitch with an inch and a quarter opening, they are still large enough to even accept a very large safety chain hook like this one. more
