Today in our 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis, we'll be installing theDraw-Titetrailer hitch receiver in a class two with an inchand aquarter opening on the receiver, part number 36116. Here's what the hitch looks like installed on our vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the uppermost edge of the bumper isapproximately seven inches. From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground is approximately elevenand three-quarter inches. Now, let's go ahead and install our hitch. Now, to begin with, we need to look on our underside of the frame railsand make sure that there's no weld splatter or anything else that will cause the frame not to be level. If there is any, which in our case we have a couple spots on each side, we'll go ahead and use our grinding wheelhereto remove any weldsplatter, to make sure that the hitch sitsflat against the frame. Now that we've done that, we'll go ahead and hold our hitch up into place. more
