Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we are going to be test fitting the Rhino Rack folding and tilting 4 bike rack for 2 inch hitches, part number RBC038. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti rattle bolt and tighten it down with the wrench. We'll then secure it using the provided lock. In this position we have about 10 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 inches away and overall we've added about 11 /12 inches to the length of the Taurus. Pulling the black pin at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt away from our vehicle. As you can see, these gives us great access into our trunk. more

Prorack 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we'll be test fitting a Prorack, hitch-mounted hanging 4-bike rack, part number PR8062404. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pinholes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down using a wrench and then secure it with a clip on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 9 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2 inches away and we've added about 30 inches to the overall length of our Taurus. With our bike rack in this position, we do have access to the trunk. To be able to load larger cargo, we can remove the silver pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast of the rack down. To load up a bike, we'll need to make sure the mast of the rack is in its upright position. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we are going to be test fitting the Pro Series Q Slot, a platform style 2 bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number PS63134. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, slide through our pin and secure it with our clip. In this position we have about 11 1/4 inches worth of ground clearance at the rear of our rack. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 6 1/2 inches away and overall we've added about 22 inches to the length of the Taurus. Pulling the two silver pins located on the outside here at the rear of the rack will allow us to tilt down our wheel cradles. With it extended we've gain a couple inches in ground clearance. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Bike Porter. This is a folding and tilting forward bike rack designed for use in both 1-1/2 and 2-inch hitches. Part number SA404B. To begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we do this, we want to align the threaded hole up with our hitch-pin hole. With those lined up, we'll take our anti-rattle bolt. We're going to slide that in; we'll thread it in from the left to the right, and we can then tighten it down with a wrench. We'll then secure it here on the other side with the provided clip. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Taurus we're going to be test fitting the Sport Rack tilting three bike rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number Sr2403. To begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We'll then secure it with the provided clip. In this position we have about ten inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle's about two inches away, and overall we've added about ten inches to the length of the car. As you can see with our mast in the upright position we do have access to our trunk. However for larger items or easier access we'll simply pull the black pin at the base of the mast. This will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle giving full access to our trunk. With our mast back in the upright position and our pin reinserted we'll now extend our dual cradle arms. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Taurus, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Dura Parallelogram, a tilting 4 bike rack for inch and 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR26247. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank to the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, dry 00:00:19 down our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it with the provided lock. In this position, we'll have about 9 and 1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 and 1/4 inches away. Overall, we've added about 36 inches to the length of our Taurus. A great feature of the Dura Parallelogram is the ability to remove the cradle arms. To do this, we'll simply push over on the black tabs and slide them out. more

We'll then secure it with the provided clip. In this position we'll have about 11 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about a quarter inch away. Overall we've added about 14 1/2 inches to the length of the Taurus. Pulling the gray lever at the top of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into the platform position. In this position we've got about 16 1/2 inches worth of ground clearance here at the rear of the rack. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle has moved. more

We'll then secure it with the provided lock. In this position, we have about 10-1/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest corner of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 2-1/2 inches away, and overall, we've added about 12 inches to the length of the Taurus. Pulling the yellow T-handle at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt the mast away from our vehicle. As you can see, this does give us full access to our trunk area. With our mast back in it's upright position, let's extend our dual-cradle arms. more

Then we can go ahead and install the pin on the other side. Now with our bike rack in this position, we have a ground clearance of about fourteen inches. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our Explorer is about three and a half inches and we've added about twelve inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We'll pull the pin at the base of the bike rack and allow it to unfold. This is going to allow us to have full access to our rear hatch door. more

With the bike rack in this position, we have a ground clearance of about 14 1/2". The closest point of the Apex to the rear of our vehicle is about 2". We've added about 13" to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. We'll pull the lever at the base of our bike rack and allow it to tilt away from our vehicle. This give us full access to our rear hatch door. With the bike rack back in it's upright position, we'll pull the lever at the top of the mast to swing our our dual arms. With these out, we've added about 37 1/2" to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. We'll go ahead and undo our cradle straps to expose our frame cradles. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we are going to be test fitting the Swagman XTC4, a platform style four bike rack for two inch hitches part number S64665. To begin our test we'll slid the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti rattle bolt and tighten it down with the wrench. We can then secure it with the provided lock. In this position we have about thirteen and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is only about an inch and a half away. However we are trying to manipulate it, we couldn't get it to make contact with our bumper and overall we've added about eight and a half inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the large silver pin and clip located at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into its platform position. We'll reinsert the pin to hold it here and as you can see this gives us great access into our hatch. In the platform position our bike rack is going to offer us about twenty one inches worth of ground clearance here at the rear. more

We'll then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we have about 13 3/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 5 1/4" away, and overall we've added about 14" to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the yellow T-handle located at the base of the center mast will allow us to tilt it away from the vehicle. As you can see, this gives us full access into our hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll now extend our dual cradle arms. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer we'll be test fitting the SportRack Super EZ Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number SR2901LR. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes and thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tightening it down with a wrench, the anti-rattle system is going to help reduce the amount of rattle or wobble that we may have inside of our hitch. Once we have that fully tightened down, we can go ahead and install our lock on the other side. With the bike rack in this position, it's going to give us a ground clearance of about 16 inches. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our Explorer is about eight inches away and we've added about 25 and a half inches to the overall length of our Explorer. We'll pull the three pins at the base of our bike rack to unfold the different parts. With the bike rack in this position, it's going to allow us to have full access to the rear hatch of our vehicle. more

To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and then tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we'll have about 13 3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 3/4 of an inch away and overall, we've added about 21 inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the two silver pin and clips at the top of the bike rake will allow us to tilt our handle bar cradles up into position. We'll rotate them up and when the pin holes line up we'll place through our pins to secure it in place. In this position, we're only adding about 13 1/4 inches to the length of our vehicle. We're now ready to load up our bike. We'll first want to undo our straps. more

We then secure it with the provided lock. In this position, we have about 13.25 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is only about an inch and a half away. However, with trying to manipulate it, we couldnt get it to make contact with our bumper. Overall, weve added about 8.5 inches to the length of the explorer. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram, a tilting four bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR26248. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack in the receiver tube of the hitch, we'll line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we have about 13 3/4 inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of our rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 1/4 inches away, and overall, we've added about 12 1/4 inches to the length of the Explorer. We'll now extend our duel cradle arms. We'll pull the silver pin located at the top of each arm, rotate them into position, and reinsert our pin. It's now time to load up our bike. We'll begin by undoing our cradle straps. We'll grab our bike, place it into the cradles, and then secure it with the straps. Just like that, we've got our bike loaded up. A great feature of the Element Parallelogram is it's ability to tilt away from your vehicle even though you've got a bike loaded. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 2 1/2" away, and overall we've added about 10 1/2" to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the gold pin and clip at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into platform position. We'll reinsert the pin to hold it here, and as you can see, this gives us full access into our rear hatch. In the platform position, our rack offers 20 1/4" worth of ground clearance here at rear. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 7 1/4" away, and overall we've added about 11" to the length of the Explorer. Lifting on the yellow rubber ring located at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see, this gives us full access to the rear hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll now lift on the yellow ring located on top of the mast. more

Pulling the gray level at the top of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into platform position. In this position we have about 23 1/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle has now moved to about 10 1/4" away, and overall we've added about 37 1/4" to the length of our SUV. As you can see in this position, we do have full access to our rear hatch. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition we're going to be test fitting the Yakima stickup. A platform style folding rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches part number Y02420. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes, throw in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. With our rack in this position we'll have about 18 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of the vehicle is about nine and a quarter inches, and over all we've added about 10 and half inches to the length of the Expedition. Pulling the red knob at the base of the rack on the left side will allow you to tilt the rack away from your vehicle into the platform position. In this position you have about 27 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance at the rear, and over all we've added about 34 inches to the length of the vehicle. In this position as you can see you do have full access to your rear hatch. By pulling the red knob on the center mass we can stand it into it's upright position. We'll now move the frame hooks to the top of the mass and undo our wheel strap. We'll grab our bike, place our bike into the cradles, secure it first with the center frame hook, then with the real wheel strap. And just like that we're ready to go and that will complete today's test for the Yakima stickup part number Y02420 on our 2014 Ford Expedition. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Pro Series Q Slot. This is a platform style tilting two bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part number PS63134. Now, to begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch here. We'll look through the window until we have our pinholes lined up. We'll then slide through our pin and secure it with our clip. Now with our bike rack in this position, we're going to have about 15 3/4" worth of ground clearance there at the rear. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle would be right here and it's going to be about 6 1/2". Overall, we're adding about 24" to the total length of the Explorer. Now, the two pin and clips located here on the outside the rear will allow us to tilt our wheel cradles down. more

Now, to begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we slide it in, well want to look through the window here to see when our pinholes line up. With them lined up, well throw on our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. With that bolt tightened, as you can see, it really tightens up our connection there. We have no play in it, nice and secure. We'll then take our lock, provided from Rhino-Rack and lock it into place. We'll take our dust cover and cover up that lock. more

With our mast back in its upright position, well pull the pin at the top of the mast. This is going to allow us to swing out our dual cradle arms. more

By pulling the two outside pins on the rear of the rack we can tilt down our wheel cradles. By pulling the silver pin at the base of the mast we can tilt it away from our vehicle and as you can see this will give you full access into the rear hatch. more

We now turn the black knob here at the rear, this is going to engage our anti-rattle device and further secure the rack to our vehicle. In this position we will have about 18 1/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the vehicle's about 5 1/2 inches and overall we've added about 16 inches in length to the vehicle. We now pull the orange lever on the right side of the base of the rack, this will allow us to tilt our rack into the platform position. In the loading position we will have about 26 3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance here at the rear. The closest point has now become about 8 3/4 of an inch away from our vehicle and overall we've added about 36 inches in length to the car. Let's go ahead and load up our bike. more
