Kuat Sherpa Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Dodge Journey- Video

Today on our 2012 Dodge Journey, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa 2 bike carrier, Part # S102. To mount our bike carrier, we'll fit it into the hitch and line up the hitch pin hole. We'll use the hand knob at the end of the shank to tighten the anti-rattle device. Once weve done that, we can throw our hitch pin in place and secure it with a lock. There's about 2 1/2 inches of clearance from the farthest part of the bumper to the closet part of the bike rack. And that adds about 15 inches of overall length to our vehicle and it has ground clearance from the bottom of the shank to ground of about 12 inches. more

Today on this 2008 dodge nitro, were going to test the department no y02422 from Yakima, this is a swing daddy for by carrier, one thing I know about the spicily character is design for 2inch receiver hitches only well start off at testing it by installing a bike rack into the hitch then well go ahead and get some cleaners measurements.Okay for the bike rack on the bumper look at a distance of 5 inches as closet point and at slowest point ground distance will be 15 inches, alright lets go ahead and swing out the bicycle rack and check for access to the back of the vehicle, alright that looks good now lets go ahead and fold the bike rack and load up the bike.At this point we can go ahead and load up the a bike well make sure that the anti-sweep pot of cradles are tilted towards the center of the bike rack and that the straps are out of way so we can load the bike.Well balance the bike and swing down the anti-sway part of a cradle then well go ahead and strap it to the seat tube and then we can go ahead and run the straps over the top tube and then we can go ahead and run the straps over the top tube, thats all take the load up to bike and then we can go ahead and run the straps over the top tube that all takes a load off the bike and we can go and add some more if we need to with the bike in place lets go and check access to the back of the vehicle one more time, and with that, thatll finish it for our test set apart number y02422 Yakima- swing daddy 4 on a 2008 dodge nitro. more

Alright today in the 2008 dodge nitro were going to do a test that is clogging by a simple rack part no s63410 this is a tightened like carrier, one quick thing we know about this bicycle rack is that it will work in receiver hitches both of a class one and class two, however when youre using the class one receiver hinch that can only carry two inch receiver.Well start off our test it by installing the bike rack into the hitch then well tighten down the anti-ratable and then put the safety pin on the other side alright with the bike rack installed well go ahead and take our measurements.Ground clearance will be about 15 and inches and Clarence and the bumper will be about 11 inches, right lets go and tilt the bike rack back and tilt the bike enough and also the bicycle will also fold-up for storage a well okay at this point well go ahead and unfold the bicycle rack and well go ahead and remove the straps for the cradle, were going to use with straps out of the way, we can go ahead and load-up the bike onto the cradles, the cradles themselves have a play device so well go ahead and adjust that accordingly to the seat tube. Alright today on a 2008 dodge nitro, were going to do a test that the part number the 990 xt from Thule, you could note about this bicycle rack that a real work of instar quarterly sire hitches both class one and class two and if it also work for hitch which includes facer .you know unless the equal will be working with a two entry heavier hitch.Were going to start- off or testing it by installing a by crack into the hitch, well tighten down the entire rattle and then install the lock on the other side, right now go ahead and get some clearance measurements , as close as point to the bumper , were looking at 7 inches and ground clearance will be 14 inches , now go ahead and unfold the bicycle rack and well check access to the back of the vehicle , all right that looks good ,now get one more clearance measurement at the back of the rack and that looks like twenty and a half inches, alright just pull up a mean and go ahead up a bike first thing well do , well make it traps our out of the rear wheels and then the post the post is tilted up just a little bit.And we load up a bike, well go and put the wheels to the wheel wells and then tilt it back for a little bit well bring you center post up and oversee and then well clamp it down onto the top tube, then we can go ahead and install our real straps, alright and thats all it takes to load up a bike and with that thatll finish it for our tests that are part number zl 990 xt form Thule on a 2008 Dodge Nitro. more

Today on our 2012 Dodge Caravan, we'll going to do a test fit of the Thule Vertex 4 Bike Carrier part number TH9029. Our vehicle is already equipped with our 2" hitch so we can go ahead and take our preassembled bike rack with a 2" bushing on our bike shank and slide it directly into the receiver tube with the hitch.And we'll install our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down. As you can see with our anti-rattle bolt tighten down, it really takes out any movement between the bike rack and the vehicle. This is what our bike rack will look like when its stored position.Now we go ahead and use the hitch switch at the base of the rack to tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle and check for rear cargo access. As you can see with our bike rack tilted away from the vehicle, we have plenty of rear cargo access. SportRack Escape 3 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video

Today on our 2012 Dodge Caravan we're going to test fit the SportRack Escape 3 Bike Carrier, part number A30403. Our vehicle is equipped with a two-inch hitch, and with our bike rack already preassembled and the two-inch bushing installed on the bike rack shank we can go ahead and slide it directly into the receiver tube of the hitch. And then we'll install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt and safety clip. As you can see with our anti-rattle bolt tightened down it really takes out any movement between the bike rack and the hitch. Rhode Gear Highway Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video

Today on our 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, well be test fitting the Road Gear Highway 2 Bike Carrier part number RG8015220. This bike rack is capable of using in 1- or 2 hitches and with our vehicle equipped with a 2 hitch we'll use the included adaptor to fit it to the vehicle. Well simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch. Well line up to hitch pin hole and insert our anti-rattle bolt. With our anti-rattle bolt in we can tighten it down with a wrench and that will secure our bike rack to the vehicle. With our bike rack secured to the vehicle well go ahead and give you a few measurements from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 4- and our ground clearance is 9-. more

Thule Apex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2005 Dodge Magnum- Video

Today, on our 2005 Dodge magnum, we're going to do a test fitting of a Thule Apex 4 part number TH9025.Now, our magnum is already equipped with a 2-inch hitch and our bike rack is already pre-assembled and were ready to fit it to the vehicle. One quick note about the Apex 4, it is capable of being used in both 1 inch and and 2-inch hitches class 1 through class 3, although when using it with a class 1 hitch, you are limited to 2 bikes. Well begin our test fit by simply inserting the bike rack shank to the hitch. Well then pull the integrated blocking pin and simply slide the bike rack into place. With the lock and hitch pin, snapped into the hitch pin hole, well then simply tie down the inner rail device working the bike rack back and fort to get the device into the corner of the hitch shank. And with a quick shake, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle and were ready to go ahead and load it up. more
