Travel Trailer Not Stopping Even After Installing New Brakes and Making Adjustments

Question:

I just installed some Nev-R-Adjust brakes on my travel trailer and hooked it up to my 2004 F150 that has a Agility Brake Controller however the trailer does not seem to be braking as it should and when I use the manual button to lock up the brakes it does not lock them up. I have adjusted the brakes to a drag and it still does not function accordingly and have even set the drag up high on the brakes and still to no avail. What can be the issue could it be my trailer wiring not getting the required power or could it be my old drums because I just replaced my brakes? Can someone please help me I just bought the brakes from etrailer and installed them this past weekend. I also tried it on my sons truck and it is functioning the same as my truck.

Since you mention that you experience the same problems even after switching tow vehicles, I think it is safe to assume that the issue is with the trailer.

The first thing that I recommend is to put some miles on your new brakes. Manufacturers state that it can take up to 200 miles for the brakes to be fully seated and function to their fullest potential.

You may also be experiencing a ground issue which would not allow full power to the brakes on the trailer. I would begin by checking the ground on your 7-way connector and then move on to the brake assemblies. Each ground should be attached to a clean metal surface on the trailer.

Another possibility is that your old drums could be worn and the magnets may not be making full contact with the magnet / armature surface and the drums will need to be replaced.
