Can Hopkins # HM50002 SmartHitch Back Up Camera Be Used on a 2012 Chevy Volt

Question:

Can this be installed on a 2012 Chevy Volt? I do not have MyLink on my Volt so I am left with finding an aftermarket setup.

The Hopkins # HM50002 can be installed on your Chevy Volt. The installation procedure would be a little different from what's outlined in the instructions. You'd need to cut off the trailer connector as shown in the install video I've linked you to. Once the connector is cut off, you'll need to identify the circuit feeding your reverse light bulbs. If you can access the wiring harness feeding your taillight assemblies, put the transmission in reverse and use a # PTW2993 tester to determine which wire is hot with the transmission in reversed. Tap the red wire into that circuit when you find it. Ground the black wire to the vehicle frame.

The remainder of the installation would be as indicated in the instructions.
