Installation Instructions for Putco Grille on 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Question:

There is NO excess at the top of the 2014 GMC Sierra between the rad and the grille. I took the top cover off and there is a solid mount between the two. How do you suggest installing the 84194 punched grill???

I spoke with my contact at Putco regarding the Punch Grille Insert, part # P84194, which you reference, and he said after removing the factory plastic hood that covers the area between grille and radiator like you have done, you will place the insert over the grille. Then place a bolt through the pre-cut mounting holes and place the mounting bracket on the back so it attaches to the grille and tighten with allen wrench. Then reinstall the hood cover and you will be good to go.

Check out the diagram at right which shows where the mounting bracket is installed.

If your vehicle has an air dam and you cannot reach behind the grille, the Putco Punch Grille Insert will not fit unless you are able to fish the mounting brackets through the pilot holes in the front of the grille insert, which will be a bit of a challenge, though it is possible.
