2008 Chevrolet 2500HD 12 Volt Battery Wire for 7-Way Connector
Question:
I recently purchased one of your 7 way trailer plugs and added it to the rear of the bed for my 5th wheel. I notice that I not only dont have 12v at the one oclock position on the new plug but also nothing on the factory bumper plug either. Do you have a shortcut to resolving this issue on your site? I see something along the lines of having to run a 10 gauge wire from a hot lead to the one oclock is this the case with my 2008 Chevy?

Sounds like you have the correct 7 way connector and the correct pins, but you are missing the wire that runs from the power posts to the connector.
First let's make sure. In the under hood accessory fuse block there are two power posts on the engine side of the block. The post closest to the front of the truck should have a wire connected to it that runs back to the factory trailer connector and provides 12 volt power at the 1:00 position as you have stated.
If the wire is not already connected on the fuse block, then it should still be tied up in the engine bay near the brake booster. Check out the FAQ that explains the under-hood connections that you need to make at right.
Also see the picture to the right for a wiring diagram of seven-way vehicle end trailer connector. If you click on it you can enlarge it.
I have included a trailer wiring FAQ page for you to check out.
