Were Yakima MightyMounts Ever Used to Secure Cargo Boxes to a Roof Rack
Question:
I have an older Yakima box, about 12 years old and want to attach it to my car that does not have Yakima bars. Does the current universal mightymount fit the older models as well? Thanks,

Expert Reply:
The Yakima Universal MightyMounts part # Y03590 that you referenced is designed to attach Yakima carriers like bike racks or ski carriers to OE style crossbars. A Yakima cargo box would never have needed this product to attach to a set of crossbars.
Without knowing what box you have or more details about your crossbars the best recommendation I could make would be to try to install the box on your vehicle and see if it can securely attach to your crossbars.
