How To Determine if 2000 Ford Ranger has Crossmember that Interferes w/ Front Hitch Installation

Question:

Hi was recently looking at front hitch mount snow plows. I see for my truck everywhere whenever Im looking at plows or just the 2inch front hitches themselves they all say only for models without a cross member. Im not mechanic but fairly handy with a wrench but am confused. I think I have a cross member but am not certain. How do I know if I have a cross member or not? And if I do are there any 2inch front mount hitches for the 2000 Ford Ranger with front cross members?

I spoke with my contact at Curt and he provided a picture to show what to look for when it comes to determining whether your 2000 Ford Ranger has the front crossmember. You will see his picture off to the right.

If your Ranger DOES NOT have a crossmember then the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C31063, will work for you.

If your Ranger DOES have the front crossmember, this will interfere with installing the hitch. In this case I recommend having a hitch custom fabricated and welded on by a qualified professional welder. I have attached a link to our hitch fabrication parts for you.
