An 18 foot camper is not all that big so it probably does not weigh more than what the truck is capable of towing. But you will want to compare the gross trailer weight with the towing capacity of your 1998 Ford F-150 by checking the owners manual, towing section.

Weight distribution should be used any time the gross trailer weight is at least 50 percent of the vehicle weight or if the trailer causes the rear end of the vehicle to sag.

To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I have included some links to the right that should also help.
