Hitch Receiver Recommendation for 2007 Springdale 5th Wheel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2007 Springdale 5th wheel. It has an I beam frame. I will remove the 4X4 bumper to install a receiver hitch. Which model do you recommend?

Helpful Expert Reply:
There are two types of hitch receiver available for your 2007 Keystone Springdale 5th wheel, bumper-mount and frame-mount. The part you referenced, the weld-on Ultra-Fab # UF35-946403, is a frame-mount type suitable for use with a cargo carrier or bike rack (but not for towing). The link at right will show you all available 2-inch hitch options including bolt-on and weld-on units in a range of capacities.
The best option for you will depend on your application. If you're using a small bike rack (note it needs to be an RV-approved one) you may prefer to use a bolt-on bumper mount like # UF35-946402 which is shown in the linked video. If you intend to tow a trailer then instead you may want to consider a frame-mount unit like # C13701.
I suggest you check with Keystone before making any modifications to your 5th wheel such as removing the bumper.
