Base Plates for 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid 4x4 to Use with Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520
Question:
I need the baseplate to match up with my Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar 6000 pounds. I have EZ twist pins from my last car, and wonder if they will work for my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid 4x4?

The recommended Roadmaster base plate kit for your 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid is their XL Type which features removable draw bars, part # 4406-1. The included draw bars are held in place with hitch pins and when removed the vehicle's original appearance will be largely maintained. These base plates will require some trimming of the front fascia components for installation.
The other draw bars from the base plates from your last vehicle, part # RM-52357-4A, use a different attachment method than this kit and will not be compatible or needed.
The XL base plate kit # 4406-1 includes the required safety cables and this base plate is fully compatible with your Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 without the need for any adapters.
Safe and legal flat towing requires some additional components. In addition to the base plates, safety cables and tow bar you will need a lighting kit and a supplementary braking system for your toad. I have linked two articles at right for your review; one covers all the essentials of flat towing and the other specifically addresses the options for supplementary braking systems.
The simplest type of lighting kit is a removable magnetic lighting system, such as the Optronics Magnetic Tow Light Kit, part # TLL21RK. These install in seconds and require no alterations to your vehicle or its wiring. There are also options for bulb-and-socket type kits that require some modifications to your Escape, but which offer a more permanent installation, such as the Roadmaster kit # RM-154.
Supplementary braking systems are available in several varieties as well, including the portable proportional-type units such as the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400. A video demonstrating this system is linked at right. The Even Brake installs without splicing into your vehicle or RV wiring.
Some vehicles require you to go through a process to make them ready for flat towing so before flat-towing your Escape I suggest a review of the owner's manual to ensure that any required preparations are completed.
