Installation of TracOne Ladder Rack System and Toolbox Mounting Kit on 2007 GMC Sierra Short Bed
Question:
It seems that there is not much of a lip for the front bar to clamp onto. Is there a way to install the rack without drilling? Also, how well does the mount kit handle the weight of the toolbox? Reference- Weatherguard, low profile, over the rail toolbox.

The TracRac TracONE Truck Bed Ladder Rack System, # TH27000XT-EX, has been confirmed to fit the 2007 GMC Sierra with a short bed. This system mounts to your truck using C-clamps that attach to the truck bed's side rails so no drilling is required. You should have no issues with installation as long as you have access to the underside of your bedrails. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for your convenience.
As for the Toolbox Mounting Kit, # TA41000, this kit was designed to be used with the TracONE ladder rack system and includes the shims and hardware to mount any crossover toolbox that will fit your truck. The pre-drilled holes in the brackets provide the attachment points needed to secure the box without having to drill into your truck's bed rails. I have attached the installation instructions for this kit as well.
When it comes to the weight of the toolbox, the toolbox mounting kit just secures the box to the truck and does not carry it's weight. The weight of the toolbox will still be supported by your truck's bed rails.
