Firestone Ride-Rite Air Springs That Won't Interfere With 5th Wheel Hitch for 2010 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1 ton truck. I tow both fifth wheel and gooseneck trailers with a Reese fifth wheel hitch and a plate attached to the rails in the truck bed. What air bag suspension kit can I use?

Expert Reply:
According to my Firestone contact, their Ride-Rite # F2250 would be an excellent choice. The air spring's upper brackets mount to the underside of the frame member, so it won't interfere with the frame brackets for your Reese fifth wheel hitch.
For a typical installation, the air lines would run to the rear of the vehicle, where they'd end in two Schrader valves that would allow you to add or remove air pressure from the springs. Firestone's Heavy Duty Compressor Kit, part # F2097 is also available. It would allow you to adjust the air pressure in the system from the cab of the truck using an on-board compressor.
