Mounting a CE Smith Motorycle Rail # CE26110PG on a Shorelander PWC Trailer

Question:

I mounted my CE Smith Motorcycle Rail for Trailers - Pre-Galvanized Steel - 85inch Long CE26110PG to my shorelander single place PWC trailer with the rear end of the rail stopping at the end of the back of the trailer. I am worried that the front part of the rail may flex to much. My dirt bike is not very heavy so it may be ok towing it, but my 1985 Honda Magna worries me. Is there a problem with this set up and if so what is the solution? I thought the rail would be sturder than it is.

Judging by the picture you submitted it does look like the CE Smith Motorcycle Rail # CE26110PG you have on your trailer is flexing a bit under the weight of your Honda Magna.

What I would recommend you do is either move the rail back a bit on the frame of your trailer, or if you really like where it is at take the trailer to a qualified fabricator and have him weld another rail under the ramp under where the front wheel is to add bracing.

While this ramp is pretty sturdy, you have to consider the fact that a great deal of weight is on the front of the ramp and it's not well supported on your trailer due to the front crossmember being so far back.

The front wheel of your motorcycle carries a lot of weight, plus the force the tie downs are putting on the front of the motorcycle.
