The Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System you mentioned, part # RP66558 is designed for trailers whose tongue weights range from 400-600 lbs. As long as the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight PLUS the weight of anything stowed behind the rear axle of your GC in the cargo area isn't more than 600 lbs, this system would be an excellent choice to provide weight distribution as well as trailer sway control. I'll link you to an article that will show you how to determine the exact tongue weight of your travel trailer.

According to Reese, the system does not need to be removed when backing. However, if you are backing into a situation where the trailer is at a sharp angle to the tow vehicle and the trailer could be in danger of jackknifing, disconnecting the spring bars would be a good idea.
