Installing 2-Piece Vent On Cargo Craft Enclosed Trailer
Question:
Installing 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent for 3inch Diameter Hole - Black. I have a Cargo Craft Enclosed trailer. I was thinking of drilling a pilot hole on the inside plywood wall large enough to put the tube from Great Stuffinch window foam in the wall cavity BEFORE drilling the 3inch hole from the outside on the Aluminum Skin. Hopefully this will stiffen up the wall cavity for the Aluminum for drilling/cutting. Then using Rivetsfoot for the exterior fasteners. Is this a good idea ? Do you have a better idea for this?

Using the Great Stuff sealer you mentioned is a great idea to insulate and fill all the voids between the wall and outer aluminum siding on your trailer when you plan on installing the Polypropylene Trailer Vent, part # HMAV2-AVT2.
A word of caution when using this sealer is that it expands a great deal, and if it has nowhere to expand will cause issues by pushing the walls apart. A little goes a long way with this stuff. Please make sure you read the label before using this sealer.
When installing this vent I also recommend either the zinc sheet metal screws we offer, part # 31071, or the wood screws we offer as well, part # 30587.
You may also want to use some sealant on the seams to prevent moisture from creeping in. The sealant we offer is part # 0160297. This comes in a 10.1 oz cartridge.
