Recommended Weight Distribution for 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Towing 2008 Keystone Sprinter

Question:

I purchased the #PS49903, Our vehicle is a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew cab,5.7foot box with the 5.7 HEMI. Our Camper is a 2008 Keystone Sprinter 272RLS it shows a Hitch weight of 590, we do haul gear in the box when we camp, sometimes about 200 lbs. chairs, firewood etc. My question is this: did we purchase the correct unit? or should we have went with the #PS49582 with #83660?

The first step in choosing the correct weight distribution system is to determine the actual as-towed tongue weight of your trailer. Anything stowed in the bed of the truck behind the rear axle should be included as tongue weight. For best performance, the tongue weight of the trailer should fall as close as possible to the middle of the effective range of the system you choose.

I have included a FAQ article on determining tongue weight you might want to check out.

The Pro Series Weight Distribution System you purchased is designed to operate most effectively with tongue weights ranging from 750 to 1000 lbs.

If the fully loaded tongue weight of the trailer falls within the 750 to 1000 lbs range, the system you purchased will be effective. If your tongue weight falls within the 550 to 750 lbs range, then part # PS49582 with # 83660 which you reference will be a better choice.
