Compatible Base Plates for 2004 Honda Pilot to Work with Roadmaster StowMaster 5000 Tow Bar
Question:
Hello I have a Roadmaster StowMaster 5000 tow bar. Would you have the base plates for a 2004 Honda Pilot that would work with my tow bar? Thanks much.

We do offer Roadmaster base plates for your 2004 Honda Pilot.
Roadmaster offers two types of removable-arm base plates, for both Pilots with and without brush guards. If your Pilot has the brush guards you will use # 1544-3 and if it does not have them you will instead use # 1544-1. Please note that the # 1544-1 base plate is compatible with your Stowmaster 5000 but the # 1544-3 is not.
Blue Ox also offers base plates for your Pilot, but these are intended for use with Blue Ox tow bars, or they can adapted for use with certain Roadmaster and Demco tow bars through the use of adapters like # BX88151. Unfortunately your vehicle-mount Stowmaster 5000 tow bar cannot be used with any of these Blue Ox base plates. I confirmed this with my contact at Blue Ox.
In addition to the base plates and tow bar, safe and legal flat towing requires safety cables, a wiring kit for the toad's light and a supplementary braking system. The linked article covers each of these items and provide links to the pertinent pages on our site.
The easiest type of wiring is a removable magnetic light system like # C6304 from Hopkins, and a popular choice in braking systems is the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System # RM-9400.
It is always recommended to check your toad's owner's manual for any guidance or restrictions on flat towing.
