Where to Connect Stoplight Circuit of Brake Controller on a 1997 Dodge Ram Truck

Question:

I am installing a brake controller on my truck. Its a 1997 dodge ram 2500 5.9 magnum 360 4x4 5speed. I have everything else wired up but havent connected the power yet. It says to connect the red wire to the red wire on the stop lamp switch on the brake pedal. All i see is a pink/dark blue wire and a white/tan wire so Im confused what wire it is supposed to connect to. Any help you can provide would be greatful. Thankyou.

In order to determine which of those two wires should be run to the stoplight switch of the brake controller you are installing in your 1997 Dodge Ram you will want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wires to determine which wire sees 12 volts when the brake pedal is depressed and none when released.

However, after doing a little research the white/tan wire SHOULD be the correct wire to use.
