Can you disconnect the sway control when backing up without disabling the weight distributing action?

The Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66074 does allow one to back up a trailer. Just the same we do recommend that all trailer sway-control be disengaged when reversing just for safety and to avoid any potential risk of damage to the weight distribution system and trailer. If the maneuvering angles are moderate it can be possible to reverse while the system is still engaged.
When the Reese lift chains are disengaged the system is "offline" - meaning it no longer provides weight distribution or sway-control forces.
