Neither Roadmaster nor Blue Ox have custom base plates for the 1965 Ford Mustang. You have 3 options though. First, you could have some universal base plates custom installed by a qualified fabricator, # BX88266. Second, you could determine if the vehicle can be towed on a tow dolly (this info may or may not be in the owners manual). And third, you could put the Classic Pony car on a trailer.

If you go with option 1 then you will also need a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. For a tow bar I recommend the Alpha, # BX7380. It also comes with safety cables so you would not need those separately.

For lighting the best option is to use something that bypasses the vehicle wiring so you don't have to splice into it. I recommend a magnetic kit, # RM-2120.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Patriot proportional system # BLU37TR. It will apply the Mustang brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Be sure to consult your Mustang owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.

If you can put it on a tow dolly then we do have a tow dolly, # RM-2050-1.

And for option 3 we do not sell car hauler trailers put you shouldn't have much trouble finding one locally.
