If this is the first time you are starting your 4000 Sportsman Generator part # BTGEN4000LPC you will first need to add oil to it, connect the gas source, choke the engine, ground the ground terminal, make sure there is no load connected to the generator (AC or DC), and then finally pull the starter grip slowly until resistance is felt and then pull rapidly.
