Best Bike Carrying Option for 2011 BMW X5 That Wont Damage Spoiler on Hatch

Question:

hello! I have a 2011 BMW x5 35d. I have a spoiler on the roof had a bike rack and attached part to the spoiler and the spoiler broke off! do you have a bike rack that will work without breaking my car? LOL 2 or 3 bikes is fine. one that I can still open the HATCH while the rack is on? thanks so much

If you wanted to try another trunk/hatch mount option, Hollywood Racks offers what might be the perfect solution. Their Over the Top 3 Bike Rack, part # HRF2-3 is specifically designed for vehicles that have the spoiler on the rear hatch. However, please DO NOT open the hatch with the rack in place. The extra weight of the rack on the hatch might cause the hatch to close unexpectedly, catching you by surprise (or by the head and neck !)

In order to completely avoid the chance of damaging the vehicle and to allow you to open and close the rear hatch, I'd highly recommend you go with a hitch mounted bike rack. As long as your X5 isn't the 'M' model, you could install the Draw-Tite # 75600 and then use a hitch mounted bike rack.
