Can a Blue Ox Hitch Extender be Used with Weight Distribution on a 2013 Ford F-150
Question:
Can you use a weight distribution hitch with this extension? I will be using this on a 2013 f150 pulling a 7500 lbs travel trailer

Expert Reply:
The use of a hitch extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. Because of this reduction and because weight distribution adds additional stress an extender should not be used.
There might be a longer weight distribution shank available depending on the system you are using. Otherwise, to get more extension you would need to replace the hitch on your 2013 Ford F-150 with # TLF1005H (but only if it is a short bed model that came with a factory hitch, there isn't a good solution for long bed models or models without a factory hitch). Then you would need to use a SuperTruss extension, # TLE1524, which will allow you to use weight distribution without a significant loss of tongue weight capacity.
I wish there was an easier way to get this done but those are really the only options.
