2012 RAM 1500 Brake Controller Recommendation and Install Harness Recommendation

Question:

My RAM 1500 has the lone star package which included a class IV hitch and both 4-way and 7-way plugs. How do I choose a brake control for that particular situation?

All you need to install a brake controller in your 2012 Ram 1500 is the correct harness, part # 3021-P for a Tekonsha brake controller. This adapter plugs into the 4-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.

Since you have a 7-way you have the necessary tow package to install a brake controller with the correct harness.
